Thank you for the bug report. There are no manned turrets in the vanilla game, but if you mean mortars (since they are manned in vanilla) then yes, there does appear to be an issue here. I'm not 100% sure if being unable to override the action is a bug or not (although likely is IMO), but at the very least a feedback message should appear when trying to override via right-click.

So I'll leave this open for the devs regarding whether or not the inability to override is a bug or WAD, and I'll add the missing feedback message to the current list of missing ones. https://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=37974.0

Tynan has confirmed this is a bug. So expect a fix for the next release (which will be v.1.0).

Insect behavior in the cold has bugs, we're fixing it.
I'll close this now since it is a known (and likely already fixed) issue. Thanks for reporting it though.

There's a report on the Mantis regarding this issue https://ludeon.com/mantis/view.php?id=3168 . Which is a good indication that this is a bug.

b) To play the unstable releases that have appeared shortly before the official release. (note this has happened for the last few versions released, and while I am personally expecting that pattern to continue, there is no guarantee that it will, nor that the unstable builds will be made available before official release going forward. But as I said I think they will since I don't see any reason why they wouldn't be).

1)b) Unstable release : how long is the waiting time between them and final releases ? If it's short enough, not really a worry :)
Depends on several variables, but I'd say usually 2-3 weeks.

Tynan doesn't release the unstable build to the masses until it's getting close to a final release, so the only way the wait between unstable and final would be significantly longer than 2-3 weeks is if something really major came up during the unstable testing (and something which somehow got past the internal testing phase that comes before all the above. Making such a scenario somewhat unlikely).

1 - You will only need to activate the game on Steam if you want:

a) A mod that is /only/ available in the Steam Workshop (although most mod creators will offer alternative download options for non-Steam users). There's a huge number of mods available on this forum https://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?board=15.0 , and maybe elsewhere as well (Nexus?). And while there might well be some mods that are Steam Workshop only (for whatever reason decided by the mod author), the likelihood is that a similar mod will be available elsewhere.

b) To play the unstable releases that have appeared shortly before the official release. (note this has happened for the last few versions released, and while I am personally expecting that pattern to continue, there is no guarantee that it will, nor that the unstable builds will be made available before official release going forward. But as I said I think they will since I don't see any reason why they wouldn't be).

2 - I'm not in a position to definitively state and/or define a condition in the EULA, but my understanding is that that passage is there to cover cases where a user installs the game on dozens if not hundreds of devices. As without such a passage the user could try to claim that they assumed such action was allowed under the license agreement, and specifically because the EULA didn't state otherwise. Hence the EULA has to quantify the limits of the license in some way so as to avoid abuse, and lay the ground for potential prosecution in the events of abuse. (I'm not a lawyer, so don't take that as gospel, and this is just my own personal understanding of it and nothing official, and shouldn't be taken as an official reply/stance).

3) You will be sent your own personal SendOwl link from which you can always download the latest released version of the game. The counter is reset to 7 after every new major release.

If at any point you need the download counter reset, then you just need to send an email to the support team for them to arrange that.

4) Yep totally DRM-free. Doesn't even install itself. Just unzip the archive and play.

5) Easily. Although note that the performance of the game will largely depend on what settings you use. eg. lot of mods, large maps/worlds, playing on speed x3, large bases with dozens of Pawns / hundreds or animals, will all impact performance. And this is true regardless of the specifications of the computer (obviously more powerful computers will cope better than otherwise, but they'll still be affected by the user's choice of settings regardless).

That rejection message is likely just a stock template reply that includes a range of reasons without specifying the precise reason it was rejected.

If I had to guess I'd say it was because "Shmo" is too much like an internet handle. But I want to stress that that is purely a guess on my part. The Creative Content Rewards are a totally separate system to these forums, so the forum moderators here have no say, and little knowledge of how and why Creative Content is accepted/rejected (other than trying as best we can to build up some sort of general picture of how it works via the various titbits of info that gets posted by Tynan etc. about them). What we can do however is point you in the direction of those who can help you. And to that end...

I'd recommend sending ItchyFlea an email via Ludeon support [email protected] , or send him a forum PM (here's his profile page) https://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?action=profile;u=959 , and explain that your name got rejected, and ask for clarity regarding why that was and/or what needs to be changed for it to be accepted next time. Or/and just link this thread (since you seem to have explained the issue well enough here). I'm sure he'll be able to help you out (or nudge Tynan if it's something he needs to look at personally).

Thanks for posting a follow-up to let us know everything is sorted. And the game was checking the Steam Cloud for saves because that's what it does if you use that Steam feature. So it was only doing what it was told/allowed to do.

(this is something that has been known to cause some technical issues with RimWorld in the past, so it was on "the check list" for me to suggest if you hadn't figured it out yourself. Although I can't recall anyone reporting it as a problem for a good year or so, as such I'd just assumed Steam had done something their end to solve whatever problems it was causing. Although this doesn't appear to be a technical issue since everything here has been WAD AFAIK).

Support / Re: Save files issue
January 15, 2018, 04:59:28 AM
Save files are stored on your computer so you will need to transfer the saves between your computers in order to be able to continue playing the same game from one computer to the other.

If you didn't do this before, and yet were able to continue playing your desktop save on your laptop, then I can only assume you were accessing a copy of your saves via the Steam Cloud. In which case I can't help you I'm afraid (as I know little about Steam or it's various features).

Moving this to suggestions (as that seems to me to be what it is).

Plus as Harry_Dicks mentioned, there is a mod available that adds a very similar feature to the game as the one suggested in the OP (meaning this thread is basically requesting that similar/same features be added to the vanilla game, making it even more of a suggestion).

Can you please post your new log file that was generated after a clean reinstall. And can you double and triple check that Steam is correctly unsubscribing you from your mods. As one or two users have reported in the past that they've needed to unsubscribe several times from some mods before Steam actually unsubscribed them.

My guess is you've got residue from a mod. So try deleting your config folder (step #1 below) and launching the game again. If you still get errors without mods then try a full clean reinstall (you will need to perform step #1 again as the game will have created a new set of config files when you launched it, so they will need deleting again).

How to Perform a Clean Reinstall

1. Reset RimWorld's configuration data by deleting all the RimWorld configuration files. You'll find them in one of the following folders (depending on your operation system):

Windows        C:/Users/[username]/AppData/LocalLow/Ludeon Studios/RimWorld/Config
C:/Users/[username]/AppData/LocalLow/Ludeon Studios/RimWorld by Ludeon Studios/Config
Note 1: the AppData folder may be hidden.
Note 2: the RimWorld folder within LocalLow may differ for various users, see this thread
MacUsers/[username]/library/Application Support/Ludeon Studios/RimWorld/Config
Users/[username]/library/Caches/RimWorld/Config
Linux/home/[username]/.config/unity3d/Ludeon Studios/RimWorld/Config

2. Uninstall the game and delete the game files.
-If you ARE on Steam:
A: Unsubscribe from all mods in the Workshop.
B: In Steam library, right-click RimWorld and select Uninstall.
  C: Shut down Steam.
D: Delete this folder (if it's there): Steam\SteamApps\common\RimWorld
E: Delete this folder (if it's there): Steam\SteamApps\workshop\content\294100
  F: Restart your PC.

3. [Windows only] Download and run Delete_RimWorld_Registry_entries.reg (right click the link and use Save Target As) and double-click it to delete all registry entries related to RimWorld.

5. Open Steam, install RimWorld and play.

If the game still doesn't work then please repeat the above, inserting the following two steps.

4. Disable virus protection programs (they occasionally flag RimWorld as a virus and kill it, since it was downloaded from the Internet).

6. Remember to re-enable your virus protection.

Happy to help, and glad to hear the game is working for you again.

My educated guess is that at some point you clicked on / enabled one of GeForce Experience's very enticing sounding, but usually entirely falsely named features along the lines of "yes, please improve and optimise the performance of my games, and/or of gameX".

Which basically instructed GeForce to mess with various 3D settings. Either globally or for a specific game. Which it did, and then broke RimWorld (at least) in the process (maybe other games as well, although using the Restore button should have fixed any other broken games as well). Sometimes the performance of games can be improved by forcing/denying certain 3D settings, but sometimes it makes them worse or even breaks them completely. And for a game like RimWorld I'd be surprised if there's any gain to be had from adjusting 3D settings, and over just letting the Unity engine decide what's best (although GeForce obviously thought it knew better. Although GeFarce is a far more appropriate name for it from my experiences).

Edit - If you have uninstalled GeFarce now then you'll need to remember yourself to check for updates to your GPU driver. You can check and download drivers directly from Nvidia's website (pretty certain you know this, but mentioning it due to my excellence in customer services :D)
