General Discussion / Re: Question before purchase

Watch a few let's play videos (Such as Splattercat's https://youtu.be/1jWXa0hMgaI?list=PLWIol4T7LuSjnpwoIJ0PxJHteFaANsIy- ) and you'll quickly get a better sense of how deep and challenging the game is.

The variety of planets and colonists as well as random events should make it necessary to continually adapt your strategy with every play through, not to mention the variety of mods that seem to be available.

I'm happy to hear the game has no set completion/release date, given many that do have a set date, often either have the date pushed back, or release on schedule with a bug ridden mess of shovel ware that rarely gets patched into a playable state without several months of wait time. (Or just get pretty much abandoned by devs after release to linger on in an unfinished state, I.E Windforge, Darkout, etc..)

I've only just scratched the surface of this game, but so far it's a very compelling experience and I'm looking forward to a hundred + hours of play, easy.

General Discussion / Re: Introduce Yourself!

Hey, I'm a gamer girl from New England, and huge lover of indie games with depth and replayability, (Doorkickers, Starbound, Dungeon of the Endless, Darkwood, etc.) and came here after seeing a play through of Rim World by Splattercat on youtube.

-What introduced you to RimWorld? Or to this style of game in general?

Splattercat's Let's play series of videos where he featured Rimworld. I was looking for something similar to Dungeon of the Endless with more depth and this game seems to fit.

(Speaking of which, if anyone happens to know the name of the seed and starting location Splatter cat used for his videos I'd love to find out.)

As for this type of game, I've always enjoyed gameplay or fancy AAA graphics, especially when the depth/length of play often exceeds those of triple A titles.
-What's your favorite other game?

Doorkickers is another fav of mine when it comes to Indie games, although Skyrim and Fallout New Vegas are the ones I have the most hours in so far (a couple thousand hours in each, easy.)

-Most embarrassing gaming-related story?
The time I was showing several Oblivion off to a friend of mine and generally running around having my character sow chaos and mayhem by placing bounties on hapless NPC civilians and pretty much turning the market into one giant brawl sprawl and killing essential NPC's by setting them to non essential just to prove it was possible. It  was great fun, right up until I quick saved over my main campaign progress.

-What kind of breakfast cereal is the best?

Honey almond crunch hot oatmeal is my current fav, although cap'n crunch of Fruity Pebbels are good for those mornings I need to start with a sugar rush.
