Id LOVE flares, especially with some night time stuff.

Thing is I dont think it ever gets that dark, but flares should really help with like emotions and ability to see targets or stuff in heavy rain or something.

and maybe we can throw them at bandits or areas to increase accuracy...

or maybe he darkens the map and monsters attack in the dark flares bring them out. Whocan say!

"why don't they just hop on the ship and leave?" questions.

If you've seen Firefly then this is usually an easy question to answer:

A. They didn't land.

B. How would you get in? Through the sealed bulkhead made of space metals?

C. They shot you as you tried to get in.

D. You got in, but no one knew how to fly it. Which makes sense because all of you crash landed onto the planet with basic knowledge. Now maybe if one of you was a space pilot then sure, it'd be plausible and opens the game up to space exploration added as a DLC/expansion down the line or maybe a feature with the extra funding yohooooo.

E. The Empire found you and your vessel. Game Over.

id love some research goals like this, could even have nasty side effects like psychosis for clones, or higher rate of betrayal, or bad reputation so traders begin to get scared of your army of super men. Or even other things.. yeah this could be amazing stuff... Id like to even see rare mutations or maybe even if he ever adds say an AI unit maybe they interfere with the clones and give them hidden objectives to sabotage your colony because he went rogue. Then youd have a mad clone vs original settlers/humans thing going down.

its only fair to ask everyone. buuuut most people will want to know why one is being worked on before the other

I dont think this poll really makes sense, Biomes? What about weather effecting tiles? I dont understand, wouldnt that be a better feature? The videos I have seen show that maps are randomly or procedurally generated to begin with. Biomes sound fun but id rather have weather changing my map in real time than just biomes. But this too would be a hardcoded feature request. This poll is too limited imo.
