It's true that the kidneys don't really have anything to do with fighting off infectious diseases. The only "physical targets" of the immune system though are your bone marrow and the lymph system. Loosing things like your tonsils and spleen weaken your immune system, as would possibly loosing one leg and its associated bone marrow(I don't know if the other bone marrow in the body works harder to make up for it).

If you incapacitate a scyther, then you can surgically remove its blade and sell it for over $1,000. Also, you can dissemble them for uranium, and they can drop expensive weapons like miniguns.

Cyborgs. Once human the mechanoids replaced their brains with an AI and replaced many of their body parts with bionic parts. You can capture them, but they have a 0% chance of recruitment. The mechanoids can kidnap your colonists, and if kidnapped the colonists get an even bigger mood penalty "Colonist changed into cyborg slave".

Add placenta to birth and let it be cooked with as if it were a meat. It's pretty nutritive.

Yeah, but you can't decapitate someone by bashing their face in with a club.

With a super strong bionic arm you could. Limbs regularly come off from blunt force trauma. Feast your eyes on this foot (warning graphic) following an unfortunate trampoline bounce. And let this also serve as a warning for all ye who wish to get a trampoline for your children.

"If everything is fixable then nothing is tragic."

Lol, that is a great line.

Unfortunately I don't know anyone else who has a mac. I haven't brought it up here for weeks because I have presumed that it must be something wrong with my set-up as such an egregious flaw would've probably been noticed if it were caused by the game. Anyways its probably not worth worrying about if no one else has been having this problem.

Ideas / Re: REALLY NEED MINIMAP!!!
July 18, 2015, 12:18:37 PM
I also come from an RTS background and I think a minimap would be really useful. I could keep an eye out on raiders and their progress towards my base as well as see if any colonists are wandering towards them. I could also keep an eye out for any herd wandering onto the screen, and I wouldn't have to zoom out to find my base every time an event jumps me elsewhere onto the map. Probably most useful though would be the ability to just click on the minimap and jump to those areas immediately without having to slowly scroll to them.

If you are already on fast speed when attacked, then you can actually pause and unpause the game and it will go back to fast speed even if the fast speed button is Xed out.

I wonder if the area of effect will be limited to structures that you build, and improvements to skill, or if other items and values can be affected, such as blood/dirt increasing infection rate.

Look at it this way, You chose were you wanted them to approximately land. But since they are crash landing, you can't exactly know what you are going to get. That's also apart of the challenge, taking what you get in stride.

I've never thought about it that way, but it makes perfect sense. Maybe the game could make this idea explicit, alongside an opening cutscene of a ship crash landing when you are starting a new colony.

Bugs / [Mac 0.11.857 rev1186] Cannot type
July 17, 2015, 04:55:35 PM
I cannot type unless I am holding down the command button. I can still use hotkeys just fine in the game, but whenever trying to type something into a text field nothing gets inputted unless I am holding down the command key.

Ideas / Re: More Game Start Options

I'd like it if I could either see what clothing my colonists are going to spawn with, or if what clothing they had was somewhat dependent on the biome. I started a colony on the ice sheet biome and one of my colonists began with no pants, and of course there are no animals that can be hunted for leather to quickly make some pants. I had to wait a long time for a bulk trader to come to buy some cloth from.

Ideas / Re: Multiplayer
July 16, 2015, 11:45:24 PM
I think the easiest way to implement multiplayer would be to allow players to select an option to allow for human raiders, and allow people the gameplay mode where they just raid colonies. Essentially you would select "Raid Mode" or whatever, and then the server would look to match you up with a player who has selected that they want to receive human-controlled raiders, and then give the human raider a set amount of points based off the colony's wealth/defenses and gameplay mode to distribute into forming an attacking force, and then just drop down the attacking force into the other players base with the understanding that after a certain amount of your raiders have been lost you lose control of your raiders and they will automatically flee.

No matter how good the AI gets, its always going to be exploitable, having smart, human-controlled raiders would make defense a lot more challenging and interesting, and would also feel much more rewarding if your traps work on a human.
