This sounds like a different game or a conversion mod.  Aspects of this might work as mods and at a stretch core game, but otherwise no.

I am well aware that this would be a massive change to the game and probably will never happen but when i wrote this i was basically just coming up with it as i went along and may have gotten a little out of hand. I am thankful for the feedback anyway  ;)

Ideas / invasion fleet idea.

I was just sitting here, reading suggestions, and then I had an idea. What if the rimworld you were on, for whatever reason, got invaded by a space fleet. Human or otherwise (dog people anyone?) I think it would be a pretty cool to have a chance of an invasion happening 2-3 years in to the game so that there was no chance of landing then having a fleet of dog warriors land on you're face. I haven't thought up the exact details yet but what if you got a message saying "a space fleet has chosen this world to colonize, prepare for the invasion" and then a few days later, maybe some scout ships would land full of armed guards. They wouldn't be immediately hostile unless you attacked them, or you could just have to hide inside for them not to find you. Then in, say, a month phase two of the invasion would begin and terraforming drones could land and have a expanding circle of lush plantlife around them, possibly accompanied by a team of guards/drones to defend them. Once the whole map has been turned lush and plentiful, phase three begins. This phase would entail the actual colonists landing on the planet, if it's possible i think this part could maybe add more factions onto the planet. they could be friendly, or just want to kill everyone. It could be cool if they maybe decimated a few other colonies in the process of colonizing. Like maybe that tribal faction could be suddenly gone from the world. And this would mean that when you started a new colony on the planet maybe some enviroments have become more friendly and the factions have shifted. This could lead to maps evolving as you played that same planet over and over again. Along with the chance of maybe having a fleet come by and do a religious cleansing on the planet, bombing some places and plain out destroying other factions. Of course there could also be a mechanoid hive that chooses to assimilate your planet into the hive. This could maybe be encouragement to build a ship or maybe there could be  whole new ending of you destroying the mechanoid hive, or being assimilated. This idea could be expanded upon even more and I am aware this would probably not be done by Tynan. But maye we as a community could create some massive mod to add this. :)

That's interesting, I'm going to have to experiment with this (since I usually tackle sieges before the first mortar is up). How quickly do their supplies get replenished, is it a matter of 30-60 seconds? I'm wondering if there's any value to "farming" them while they sleep, but it's not worth it for 10-20 food packages and shells per day.

Obviously only viable if you're in a mountain base that's self-contained or during a no-grow period, and can take the daytime shelling with minimal damage.

I think they only get resupplied once the run out of something. Like if you blow up their shells they will get more or if they eat all the food then they get a resupply

1955. I think this is starting to slow down, and i am pretty sure that Tynan already knows about this but is just letting us continue to count. He'll probably post at like 8999 or something

i think they used to eventually run out of mortar shells and food then go insane. But now they get orbital drops so i just send in either one or two people with long swords to kill them. Sometimes if they are too far away and i am safely tucked into the mountain and have all mountain roofs i will just ignore them until some visitors/other raid comes and handles it for me.

hey everyone! thanks for all the tips. My colony is currently doing pretty well. I found a massive cave in a mountain and it had soil inside it so i made grow lamps and have my potatoes growing well. Raids are not the biggest problem as i have made a few turrets but i will see how things turn out. Again thanks for all the information and i have done pretty well using it

squirrels killed two of my colonists and incapped  another in one in-game.then a tribal raid happened and the squirrels killed four of them before getting killed themselves.

I just keep thinking that the tribals came expecting to attack my colonists but instead got seiged by squirrels until they retreated after killing them and being shot at by my snipers.

it was pretty great.

merry christmas everybody! huddle up together far away from the screams of the kill boxes and sit deep inside the mountain around the wall of heaters while the mortar shells rain down. my cannibal colony will be celebrating with new cowboy hats for everyone!.

Well, I can't draw. But that won't stop me from trying!.

Here we see Panda, a religious hierarch, praying to his god as he runs for his life while his two friends behind him are torn limb from limb by a manhunter pack of wargs that spawned while the three of them were mining a steel deposit.

This actually happened and i lost one of the two savaged colonists to a torn off limb and lots of bites. Panda escaped unscathed though.

and i just want to compliment a friend on his amazing artwork. You really got talent

not sure if this helps in any way but my computer barely runs the internet without lag and i can play rimworld without issue. I'm not sure what the requirements are but they can't be that high if i can run the game  :)

wow. that sucks, once i got a crop almost ready, it was a winter and freezing , everyone was starving. And then i got a blight followed by a massive raid immediately after that, causing my colony to be destroyed because half the people were incapacitated by that time. Oh and you always could of maybe, i dunno, snacked on a few people. That's always an option ;)

i would gladly carve up the raiders but the colonists whine so much about it ( i mean jeez you didn't even KNOW that raider) and i have watched blitz but i really want to make a cave base and he did a outdoor circle type base. And thank you for that quick and easy three step process. I will use it, and thanks to all of you who have replied so quickly to help me out with this
