Speaking of hotkeys, while there are a lot of assignable hotkeys in the options, it doesn't do very well to detect and assign additional mouse buttons.  I have an 11 button mouse, but no matter which of the 8 additional buttons I assign, they all seem to represent the same key in the menu.  I was trying to assign the three speed buttons and pause to my mouse as secondary hotkey bindings, but when I went to assign the second one it used the same name as the first one while unassigning the first one.

While I have software designed for the mouse that can assign representation for the 1, 2, 3, and space keys to the buttons, sometimes the mouse "loses" the bindings at random, so being able to assign them in the game's options would be a huge help!

Do you know if there's any mod order or other conflicts out there with Quantum Storage?  I ask because for some reason the Quantum Stockpile research project isn't in the list at all.  I'm also using Fuses and Solar Flare Shield, and those are showing up in the list just fine.  Quantum Stockpile is in Help, so the mod is being loaded, and I think I remember the Quantum Chunk Storage research project being in the list, but locked out since the first Quantum Stockpile research is a prerequisite...

I've gone over to Steam, so I got the mod through Workshop.  I'll admit I'm using a number of mods in addition to yours, but the majority of these I had been using in A12 and A13 as well and had no problems with the research, so I'm a little stumped myself.  If you need them, I can list my mods and will even find a way to get the mod order as well if that will help.

Edit: Okay, I figured it out.  The help entry needs to be updated to express that Multi-Analyzer is needed, since it says all it needs is Microelectronic Basics and doesn't specify that it's Spacer tech level, thus not 2000 Research but 4000.  Apparently I'm blind and can't see the words Quantum Stockpile when it's greyed out and not where I expected it. >_>

Well, 50 Plasteel for the Multi-Analyzer.  Plus using it as a superb crafting/art material.  And of course, any mods that wind up only using Plasteel for things in crafting/construction.

Since I apparently can't tell what color Plasteel is supposed to be (and how have I never noticed that the color varies based on the surrounding rock?), I'm going to go back and check again, this time using that tool to highlight things that are usually undiscovered to see if any of it is Plasteel.

Edit: So, I just checked the only two colonies that I have started in Alpha 14, and on the first one there is a single moderate to large size deposit of Plasteel deep in the mountain where I likely wouldn't have found it for a long time, while on the second one there was no Plasteel at all.  For that matter there was only a single small gold deposit that I could find, as well as a single small Jade deposit that was already visible without Dev mode.

Does this mean anything?  I dunno.  I just know that in Alpha 12 I generally wound up running into Plasteel as I was carving out rooms in just about every colony I had made, while in Alphas 13 and 14 I hadn't ever run into any...  I'd probably have to make a lot more colonies and check them out to see if there's any pattern to if Plasteel is found or not...

Actually, I know this would not be planned for Alpha 15; I know his focus right now is on expanding the types and amounts of drugs, both for medication and recreation purposes.  I wouldn't expect it for a long time, if it ever gets consideration.  I just wanted to throw this out there and see if anybody else thought it was a good idea and had any thoughts about it, especially concerning what kind of end game this sort of scenario would have.

Either I'm really unlucky, or I just don't know what the color of Plasteel is when it's not exposed.  I could have sworn it was a blue that stood out more, not that super light blue color from your screenshot...

Giving the new scenario system some thought, I realize that the endgame as it's been envisioned doesn't always make sense.  Now we don't always have to be stranded due to a cosmic accident and desperate to find a way back home.  I know this would be a large undertaking, but I guess the idea would be that you land and establish your initial colony, and once it's up and running, you can choose to send a few people out with resources to establish another colony on the same planet, leaving the previous one behind as a faction that you have high relations with.  When travelers and traders appear, they may be familiar faces, or they may be new people, since once you move to the new colony, the old one is technically running itself (though no longer actually being simulated).

Although I don't know what the endgame could truly be for these types of scenarios (other than, fill up the map, or maybe establish a colony in each biome on the planet).  This could possibly lead to missions where you pacify hostile factions through violence, but that's a different topic entirely.  I just wonder what opinion would be for this type of scenario and if there are limitations that would prevent this idea.  Is there an upper limit to the number of factions?

Just figured I'd throw this out there and see what people thought...

Something I've noticed since Alpha 13 is that I seem to always generate maps that have no Plasteel anywhere to mine from the various mountains generated when I start my colony.  Did I miss something in the version notes where Plasteel is no longer a mineable resource?  Is anybody else seeing this, or have I just been really unlucky?

I've used the Dev Mode to turn off fog so I can find minerals in the rock, and I've been able to find Steel, Components, Silver, Jade, and Uranium, but not Gold or Plasteel...
