You could always....
1)not set the squirrel to be tamed
2)set an already tamed squirrel to be slaughtered if you don't care about it
3)restrict colonists and/or animals to specific zones to prevent specific colonists interacting with specific animals
4)manually assign the handler to tame the thrumbo

You can't expect the game to "know" things you don't tell it.

Why, i got many reason's why. Like at the desert when you got boomalope's but rarely wood.
I realy liked at HCSK modpack that i could use various fuel sources for some fueled generator.

But the problem are, the mod would need to adjust the fuelconsum based on the fuel source.
When the object would use Chemfuel that fast like wood, it is pointless.

The vanilla game doesn't need it though.  Adding the feature into vanilla implies that there are multiple fuel types.  Someone clicks the button...and can't select another fuel type.  You're complaining because the game doesn't already support functionality for features it never intended.

Plus if you'd rather use chemfuel than wood...build a chemfuel generator instead?  It's a bit of a stretch to assume that the same generator would work with different fuels anyways.

Rimworld doesn't go on sale.

Dev has made that clear

Where? Last I check there were just no plans.  Things change all the time.  PLUS it has already been put in a bundle which you would have indeed saved money if you were interested in those games.
type in "sale" in the search bar and read the half dozen threads discussing it?

Or look at this: https://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=37847.msg387529#msg387529

I can't think of anything in the game that takes more than one fuel type, so why would you need the option?

Its a good game with alot of replayablity. If youre broke then I suggesting holding off until it hits a good sale. However, its worth it even at full price.

On the list of things I'd like to see in Rimworld...this doesn't even register.

I suppose, now that it's been mentioned, it might be kinda a nifty, novelty thing...i guess...but that's about where my level of enthusiasm is for it.

Once you consider the time and effort it would take to implement vs. the interest I have in the feature, my vote would be a resounding no.

I'm aware that features aren't mutually exclusive, and working on a given feature doesn't mean that work isn't ALSO being done on another feature, but this particular feature doesn't interest me enough to think that any significant amount of time at all would be well spent.

It's probably the most "worth it" game in terms of time played and enjoyed of any game I've ever owned, save maybe Skyrim.

There is a good reason why they made this balance change... Because well, also the raiders did the point blank shooting to your guys as well in B19 Testing versions, if they had a chain shotguns...
pretty sure the balance reason they made the change was because with point blank shooting, melee wasn't a thing.  There was no use for any melee weapon ever.  Brawlers were just nonviolent pawns who COULD pick up a gun for -20 mood.

Now there is a point to melee.  Give a pawn a shield belt and a longsword, pop around a corner and lock down that LMG, charge rifle, or chain shotgun toting raider.

and if they die, your whole colony gets a long term mood penalty?

cuz refusing someone who asks for help flat out seems a lot less cold hearted than making them prove their worth at cost of imminent death...

"Hey man, can you spare some change?"
"Sorry, no"
Everyone carries on with their lives.

vs.

"Hey man, can you spare some change?"
"That depends, how'd you end up like this?"
"Just some hard times is all"
"What are you planning on doing with this money to better yourself?"
"I just need some food and money get a place to stay out of jail!"
"I see, and what do....oh look, the cops are here.  Oh well, too late!  Have fun in jail!"
Everyone around you is looking aghast at you and shaking their heads...

In other words, yes, the restriction still exists.

You cannot fire guns at point-blank range.

It is incredibly unlikely to EVER change.

Ideas / Re: Multiple timelines
March 27, 2019, 11:32:05 AM
Not really sure what you're asking...

multiple timelines could just be making a savegame file, copying it, and then playing both at different times and doing something differently.  Heck you could even run the game concurrently with 2 instances of rimworld open to the two different save files and allow Rimworld to run in background.

These are questions you should probably ask on the individual mod pages, as neither of them refer to vanilla game behaviors.

So no one here knows what mods (specifically...there are many mods that do similar things in vastly different ways, so for anyone to help you, they'd need to know EXACTLY which mod(s) you're using) you're using or referring to.

Additionally, in the general forums, there is no guarantee the people reading this even use those mods.  I'd suggest finding the thread relating to each of those mods in the mods subfolder here on Ludeon, or heading to the mod page on steam and posting there.

Good luck

at the time of posting this response, the top story on Rimworld on my steam page is "Survive space together with this Rimworld Multiplayer mod"

It's still, and probably will remain, SOLELY in the realm of mods, but I guess it exists.

I also like to do very cold worlds (not quite the sea ice challenge because that's too much micromanagement for me) but I give the colonists starter parkas that are good through the summer months and disable the pet.
I agree, every now and again (maybe 1 out of 4 games i start) I like to do a "cold" game...sometimes sea ice lethal outdoors, sometimes just no-growing-season tundra, but It's always a different game from temperate starts.

I never much cared for "too hot" biomes...not terribly sure why, they just never felt as interesting for some reason.

QuoteSimply put, it's Ludeon's game and they can decide what they will and won't allow in their game.

Nobody in this thread has said otherwise.  OP is making a case that restricting this mod is hypocritical, and that assertion holds.  Whether or not you care in this particular case, this is a demonstrably hypocritical situation because any credible standard applied to block it should also block vanilla mechanics.

I don't care about the mod, but I do care about the precedent.  Dishonest moves lose trust.

The precedent is that the game's creator doesn't feel like having THAT PARTICULAR THING in his game, so has blocked THAT PARTICULAR THING.  His feelings on other aspects are utterly irrelevant.

If he wanted to make a game where torture was encouraged, while blocking atheism, he can.

The only precedent here is that the creator is blocking things he doesn't feel should be in game.  full stop.
