One normal day in Salvation : The anti-dog force

Don't worry, the dog survived.  ::)

I'll make animal kibbles with human meat for sure. And see want kind of dramas the relationship feature can create.

No, colonists don't do anything about it, you'll just have to put the human meat in a separate stockpile and forbid the regular food stockpile to the animals. It's a quite efficient way to save food. If it's cold enough outside you can just throw it somewhere and it can't degrade as far as it can't spoil.

I'm not really cruel but sometime the game just does'nt give you the choice.

- One normal day with Randy on an ice sheet, no food left after eating the last human corpse, and no sellers or raiders for a while. Its seems like the AI decided to sit and watch everyone dying. I asked my colonists to go outside, the first to fall was the one who has been eaten.

- After losing some beloved colonists during a raid, I captured all the raiders I could and cut them into pieces. Sold the organs and gave the meat to my dogs after making cushion from their skins. I was a bit pissed off this day.

- To open ship part, because if you ask colonists to do it, they'll continue to fire the ship when the mechanoids come out, I got doomed several times because of that. Also the mecha fire at the turrets first so it's a good diversion.

- For Thrumbos, however it's sad they're so easy to kill.

- Sometimes to kill raiders with good weapons.

I give 8 hours of sleep, 5 hours of work and 2 hours of joy to all my colonists, with the night owl working at night and the abrasive working when others have joy. I think it helps them to speak together a bit more.

I can have some colonists exhausted or joy-deprived when they are working far from the base but they have enough free time to change it alone. If they really don't because they are obsessed by the meals some nice raiders left for them or so, I keep them in the home area till the next day.  ::)

I don't know if the mod has an issue or if I am doing something wrong but I can't heat my base correctly. I have four industrial heaters set to 91 C°, each one in a little room with three duct intakes.

At the moment, the temperatures are :
- Outside : Between - 95 C° and - 105 C°
- In the heater's room : 30 C° / 50 C°
- In the ducts : - 2 C° / 4 C°
- In the rooms : - 10 C° / 2 C°
When I started this colony I was ok with only two industrial heaters, but after some solar flares / cold snap (-116 C° sometimes) the temperatures fell a lot and I can't make them rise up again even if my base is still little.

I like challenge so I don't even look the profile of my colonists before launching the map. I have begun my last play on a very cold ice sheet with an abrasive noble, an old lady with cataracts and bad back, and a nudist brawler. Since then, I have stolen two eyes for the old lady because her vision fall to 11 % efficiency after some fights, and two people joined us. An empath incapable of caring, and a frail nudist brawler ! XD

For now they are doing quite well, surprisingly, but I don't care if I fail dramatically before the first year. I have so much fun just seeing them trying to go on with their weird particularities.

General Discussion / Re: Hot/Cold seeds

I really love extreme maps, for cold I found the seeds andy and ivna, and for hot bb08, enjoy ! :D

With the seed "andy" you can find some map where the temperature goes under -115C sometimes.

I really like ice sheet map, but it's less fun when it's too cold because raiders dies before reaching your base, and you can't even go and take the loot xD

Here is my not-so-cold ice sheet map, with some mods like harsher map condition and redistheat.

- There wasn't enough gravel to do a proper farm on my map
- I captured some manhunting muffalos and wargs - thanks Randy - and now I have some vegetable problems and a puppies invasion xD
- I love cleaning and hauling robots

Ideas / Re: Your Cheapest Ideas

Add an alarm and the possibility to distinguish the combatants and non-combatants colonists or animals, the firefighter, the medic, etc.

When someone turn on the alarm, colonists and animals will go to specify area, change outfits, or prioritise certain job depending on their category. Different sort of alarm can be created for raid, fire, solar flares...

Ideas / Re: Changes to morale?
November 02, 2015, 04:12:44 AM
I don't think the change is relevant for the whole group of raiders, but I like the idea that so people act differently because of their traits.

Bloodlust people could get a rush and continue the battle even when everybody is fleeing.
Heroic could try and save their wounded friends.
Fearful people could drop their weapon to be take as prisoner before getting hurt, or ask to join the colony.

This way the combats will be a bit different sometimes.

I agree that some people can like human meat and pay for that, cannibalism has always exited.

But that's not because some people like human flesh that you can go to Carrefour, Walmart, MacDo or whatever and buy or sell human steaks. This high price and easy trading sounds like an invitation to murder, and cannibalism has lost sense, it's not dramatic at all.
You forgot we are talking about merchant who will endure a journey of centuries, for getting to the fringe of human colonization. With such an investment, a trader would trade in anything could bring a profit. Also, being at the border of civilization, means there's no patrol whatsoever.

Oh, interesting, I haven't seen this like that at all. Still, buying rice, bunnies and human meat with the same traders is quite confusing. The exotic good traders seem more accurate because they sell rare and expensive stuff, with some mood effect that will be better already.

If eating human is ok in this space society, the colonists should eat human meat as if it was normal. The coherence is important in storytelling.
