Topic- I want to see how many games are even like this one......I dont know of many

Gnomeria is my fave right now

I tried Dwarf Fortress- its waaaay too complicated and im not a person that usually gives up trying (i mastered Distant Worlds which is another maze of a game) - but i had to on this one

Rimworld/Gnomeria is working out for me- what about you fellas, any recommendations ?

Oh man try Dwarf Fortress again.  Use this series of tutorial videos:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gxAXxDBDw10

After watching those and learning the basics, I have had so much fun.

Are the plants fully grown?  Hover over them, and they will say the % at which they are grown.  Unless that percentage is very high, you can't harvest them, and if you cut them you will get not get food.

I honestly feel like the vents don't work properly.  I can have a room that is heated fine by one vent, divide it with a wall and a vent, and the side without the heater will be way, way colder than before.

Now I just don't use vents, as they seem kinda pointless.

Any info on the temperature tolerance of animals?  Can cows survive in the cold for example?

Get the hardest of hard mods. Always go in the coldest/hottest place on the map with mountains... Don't make kill boxes..

Try note to cheat and use godmode :)

I'm tellin ya... the developer tools need to be locked behind walls and walls of work and effort to get too... so I end up cheating less...

Hmmmm I am just getting into mods now.  Any you recommend to add some difficulty?  (my main fear is that a lot of mods would make the game too easy by providing super powerful turrets, super strong weapons, etc.).

Yep, I think I was forgetting to change the info in the brackets.  Thank you!

General Discussion / House Rules
September 07, 2015, 09:52:02 PM
I was wondering what house rules people use when playing (usually to make the game harder)?

I'm thinking of starting a new map on tundra with June-July growing season, and only growing outdoors (no indoor farming and hydroponics).  It should make for a more interesting winter.

General Discussion / help with editing save file
September 07, 2015, 03:49:07 PM
I'm trying to edit my save file to make two tribes hate each other (I love watching tribals fight it out).  However, the save file is in RWS format, and whenever I edit it with notepad, the game can no longer load it.  Anyone else find a workaround to this?

General Discussion / Re: Tamed thrumbos left my colony

Did they have a food source?  Also- I've heard that if the thrumbo shows up through the event, it will leave no matter what, even if you tamed it (it follows the event script).

Nice!  I am hoping for more evil options.  There used to be a cage where you could put a dead body into, but I don't think it had any effect on anything.  It would be cool if you could do evil deeds (placing dead bodies as warnings to scare off raiders, rob passersby and caravans, etc).  It would also be cool if doing so made you more liked by the pirates, and less liked by the Outlander towns.

I wholeheartedly agree!  The music sets the tone perfectly for this game, and adds so much to the overall experience.

I miss having to saw logs into planks of wood.  Made the early game a unique struggle, and felt right.

I began a game with two non-hostile factions, one at relations 9 and one at -32.  I sent them silver until they were both in the (positive) 90's.  Once saving, quitting, and reloading, they are back to 9 and -32, respectively.
