orion, I am getting lots of errors and a spamming of visitors are leaving, when they start to leave ,and they do not, they just stay on the map till they  and their animals die(using the 1.17a on a a17b rimworld with many other mods)

in my windows machine, I have a15(several configurations), a16(several configurations) and a17, all individually accessable from shortcut pointing to a batch file that loads the folder for the game to save the saves(and configurations), the contents of the batch are

".\RimWorld1393Win.exe" -savedatafolder=SaveData

and yes the config files, game files and mod files are all in the same folder, and each setup/version has it's own folder where it lives

I have had a couple of manhunter raids in my first a17 vanilla playthrough,

While playing with Minions I've developed a hankering for more animal handlers in my colony, so I created a set of five new animal handler backstories that makes it possible for more to show up.

Yeap. The Minions mod created an unprecedented importance in animal handling/training.

Because the Minions are pretty much useless (like chickens) if you do not train them. And for the new generations of the minions (bred with those thousand year old monsters), its only until they are teenagers (if I'm not wrong) before they would be able to train for heavy duties like hauling, logging, etc...

I had never needed pawns to do purely animal handling work until I had the Minions mod

while the ages of the minions  baby (only obedience trainable(and obdience seems to include cleaning)) as is toddler but when they get to child (at two seasons of age), they can be trained in haulling, then at three seasons you get teenage minions that can even rescue, and at four seasons they are adult

are you using any mods?
if yes, try disabling all the mods other than 'core' and see if you can start a game,
if no, , then if via steam, verify game files, if sendowl re-extract form your installation zip
then test again

unless you are using 7zip to do the extraction of the 7z file you WILL get errors, you can get 7zip from www.7zip.org
