What map were you playing at cause i didnt find the component shortage that bad on my -95C ice sheet that randy decided to troll with a day1 winter(start summer) being volcanic one and putting it to -120C there. The need of the hydrophonics and heater(need 2 heaters per 6x6 room) is bad on the compononts, although i didnt use them for anything other than buildings. I think its just a case of needing to change our play style and less tool/armor making

they are a source of a good amount of med xp from all those wound healing and the pain causes them to berserk on each other if kept in barracks so even more healing

using meds improves the treatment, and meds are only required during operations, no non painkiller ops here. I am not sure here, but the quality of treatment for regular diseases improved the rate of recovery so an infection in an young can be cured without the meds but for old people, not using them might kill them as their imune system is slower

u need 1 meal per person per day, and each season is 15 days. Plus u also need food for the animals and more backup till your new harvest matures . Also, indoor farming is a good way to at least break even in those seasonal growing regions.u dont even need hydrophonics for it, ust a sun lamp and soil and heaters to make the greenhouse and enclose the farming region in walls

to be honest, desert is harder than extreme desert because the outside temp can excede the tolerance temp for the plants in summer. Its nearly not possible to get it out of the range in the extreme one without events and hydrophnics being a tier1 research, gravel potatoes are easy to get in the starting too. Also, unlike the ice sheet where 1 might find the max outside temp to be -50C and nearly always, unhealthy at game start there is no such driving force that is a problem in the deserts

people bring 3 meals per person and one can trade with any visitors who have a yellow ? on their head. If you really want to scum around, interupt the leader by trading just after he takes out his meal to eat before he can finish it, u get a free meal as a gift

at 6 men after 1 year, i faced a 15 man tribal , extreme randy so a 10 man casandra should give a 8-10 man pirate as my pirates were 6men just before the tribal raid

extreme desert is NOT more hotter than normal desert, but a lot less rainfall.I have seen a desert at 38C ,400mm rain // and 32C  80mm rain  extreme desert on the same seed. One can go without noticing even a single rain in a year. Extreme desert tend to go around the temp of desert in summer and single digit temp in winter which is harder to cope with as u need both cooler and heater in the same room else have at least 1 of slept in hot/cold for some time and also, there is nearly no soil(i havent seen in my 1 playthrough) and very little gravel, comparable to that of ice sheet
