a single penoxcyline per person when you get the event is enough to save them, although you need to give it right away as it increases the immunity gain to 61% from wherever it was so at start its 30% increase. This is why i always keep a stock of 5 in reserve.

plague does not occur when you get the event but much earlier and is hidden from you while it reaches to 40% so you need to reload to before this event occurred.

General Discussion / Re: Gaming the System For Food
January 22, 2017, 04:24:23 PM
this method is considered more gaming to get steel as you really dont need to worry about food past the very early stage. And you cannot be raided again once you set up camp so its even more gamey . Add in miniaturization and you can transport ground penetrating radars and drillers to the camps in camping mod too. Of course you can also setup a second colony and do the same but you can be raided there so thats a plus.

once you play on an ice sheet/sea ice map, you will come to recognize that your map has too many resources. But choosing a map with a max temp of 5C is really bad because of the temptation it creates while still being a ice sheet map. The temp max needs to be around 10C to get some resources out of them and even if everything on your map dies, new plant seeds can still fly from the map edges and create new trees if the temp is positive. Or you can attempt to create new tree life by creating some growing areas outdoor and setting them to plant the trees.

This lag can also be reduced by partitioning your maps into allowed areas and having many of the people in their separate areas. A life cook who only cooks for his entire time can have his room next to the kitchen and his allowed area be room, kitchen, fridge common room and maybe outdoors if needed.

General Discussion / Re: Plague unbeatable early game?

Malaria is even more misrepresented in game than plague is. I have personally got malaria 10 times while i was under 15 and only once did i actually need medical help to survive(108F is not a joking point at 10). Malaria is considered a fatal disease only because of the number of people it kills, not its kill/infection rate. Malaria should not generally kill a under 40 person even without medication if he gets bed rest. The way i see it, the starting point of the immunity should be a random variable between 30 and 50% for a disease that starts at 40% severity and working while sick with these killer diseases should make their progression rapid.

i am not too sure about gun wounds. Most of the military and mafia know how to self treat in an emergency although, yes it is a lot of pain. I think all non surgery wounds should be able to be self administered by explicit order at half skill and speed along with a severe pain debuff.

The best thing to sell if you are an eskimo or a polar bear like me playing only on -70C avg ice sheets is human meat and human leather. By mid game the raids are so huge that i think many a times to buy peace with the tribes else its a constant job butchering them up. Labor costs are not cheap there with the need of insulation and extreme power(for hydroponic rice too) .The bodies dont rot naturally unless an toxic fallout occur so you need to take care of them anyways.

that would be one of the most stealthy changes ever, although its known that you need to be above a certain relation score for the traders to come at all. Having intentionally bad relations with all people is a way to play too as it causes many events to not occur at all so the events we want can occur more frequently.

with no trading, you should concentrate to build a new ship and get your back of that planet ! :-)
And what if lack of steel is stoping you from building your ship?

There is the smelter to smelt slags and weapons for that steel. Its supposed to be a challenge

Stellaris might not be a similar game to this, but i have noticed while i play on kongregate that the MMOs i play there have people with very similar likes in chat (i found many games that were MADE for me from there including this and factorio) and people that like this and factorio also were hyped on Stellaris and it is scheduled to have the first major final bug fixing and updates to make how the game was marketed around july end and going by paradox's policy there would most likely not be a dlc for 3 months so anywhere after a week or 2 after or before that would be good. Although since its not paid, it will be more of a question of if people have got the time to play rather than the money to buy the game.

Your seeds are just not allowing for a ocean to take the top most part of the land.I have seen a seed with nearly no ice sheet at all which was rejected as i was searching for the coldest lace to live on. As far as i know the top 20% land is ice sheets and below that 20% is tundra because the bottom most part is the equator. Because our world is spherical, that means a lot less% of land is ice sheets, but going by just latitudes, its fine as it is now.

The 'best pet' is subjective to what you you want the pet's role to be. It also changes from biome to biome too. A pet who is good to have in a grassy land eating the free grass may not be a good choice to have on a ice sheet map. Also, the alpaca wool is invaluable on ice sheets to map parkas, but the chickens are very good to have on a rain forest due to the speed at which they multiply.
