Since this Bug has not been fixed. And no Dev comments. I re-posted as a B19 Bug after confirming it's still a bug. See link below. I know it's easy for a bug to be missed. And low priority so I imagine it's not at the top of the list to resolve.

What the circumstances were.
Version 1.0 on Steam, no mods, new game.  Cat's won't hunt.

What happened.
Spawned many cats, and many rats, hares and squirrels. No animal zones, waited for cat to get hungry. Cat's still won't hunt. Possible bug left over from B18.

What you expected to happen.
I expect cats to at least hunt animals smaller than it. For example rats at least.

Steps we can follow to make the bug appear on our machine.
1. Start new game.
2. Spawn Cats.
3. Spawn Rats.
4. Fast forward time and observe cat behavior.

Is it possible that it's not updated to improve... Wow my brain is not working I forgot the word I'm looking for? But you know what I mean improve FPS? Rimworld can already slow down even on highend machines. Devs may have found out that this hits the performance. Ah that's the word I want. Performance!

Wait you can make a custom scenario and stack Cold Snaps. Interesting I still want to find coldest possible without that of course but if what you say is true then sure it is possible to make a SUPER COLD game mode. That would be neat because you can play on a Desert or Jungle map for that matter and it would still be like -100C.

P.S That would be even more insane with Heat Waves. A fire WORLD! That would be a pretty intense playthough if it would even be possible.

Androsynth I heard someone say that Tynan or Dev Team tweaked the game because they felt it was generating areas that were to cold. So maximum cold threshold was simply reduced. You are right there was one Alpha with the new globe system were you could easily get colder sites.

Locked doors in Vanilla is a exploitation nightmare. So many ways players could abuse this and moderately difficult for Dev's to protect from this. However as a Mod I 100% support and love the idea. And I love the person who made the mod that already exists. Good Stuff. Thanks.

I have not made up my Mind about how I feel about Tornadoes yet?  Ison seems to think Tornadoes will go though a change of some kind. Is it official? Or more so has Tynan announced what changes he is considering.  I do like the idea of walls reducing damage of Tornadoes.

I will say that I hope Tornadoes stay!
I feel like they need some tweaking but I don't have any useful suggestions except please don't remove them.
If I don't like Tornadoes I will simply disable them as a possible event in the Scenario Editor. For now I am not disabling them.
I kind of want the strength of the Tornado to be random as well... Or maybe the type of Tornado depends on the weather conditions? These are only tidbits of suggestions.

Updated to add C now to my main post.  From here on out I will be updating both F and C. And if anyone posts a hotter or colder location in either F or C I will update my main post and convert it into both F and C.

Interesting tomorrow I am going to boot up Rimworld and see if Foxes hunt larger animals. lol  I am going to bed now. If they can't then there must be something else preventing them.

So basically to avoid this issue.  Repair Door, use stronger doors, get inside faster to prevent manhunts from seeing colonist enter inside etc.  Okay cool.

Strange question but anyone who understands coding for Rimworld. Could this be linked to this bug Here.

If Rimworld determines what animals other animals can hurt by mass or size or something that could explain this bug? Maybe some animals were buffed in size for B18 for some reason or by error? Anyhow just food for thought.
