UPDATE: My measly laptop can run the game like a charm. 8 colonists and 4 raiders onscreen at the same time, absolutely fine. :D

P.S. I did notice a huge lag spike when there was a solar flare and ALL my electrical objects went out. The flashing electricity sign slowed me down a lot.

So someone who was a "con artist" may be really useful or may steal food and money and leave.

Not 5 minutes into the game, this happens.

"You killed Kenny"

Here's one of my characters that is still alive.

Ideas / [Suggestion] Captains Log - Document your story
October 29, 2013, 11:40:33 PM
Long term idea, but something really cool nonetheless.

I thought it would be a great way to really focus on the storyline is to have a Journal/Captains Log that documents your story (1st or 3rd person). It would auto update at every event that happened and write a random story to go with it.

Each log can have parts to it; 'Event' 'Event Reaction' 'social interaction'
Traits would effect the social interaction, so if someone was mean it would load a random phrase about x doing y. So good traits would make good remarks, and bad traits would make bad comments.

e.g.
QuoteDay 4 Cycle 1
Name1: "A group of raiders have landed nearby, I hope they don't cause us trouble. Name2 has been working on some defenses.
name3 has been causing arguments because she is so selfish.

QuoteDay 5 Cycle 1
Name2: "We fought # Raiders, we took down #.
Name3 got injured shooting. (Don't really feel bad for her).
We took name4 hostage, she was a {job} who was raiding us. We are not making contact with her until we decide what to do"

Obviously some/all of this might not be possible, and it would require random sentences to be created for each event (raid, trade, death, event). Just a suggestion :)
Been watching streams, can't wait.

"Escape!"
During a power outage or disaster, one or more of your prisoners are escaping. Better catch them quick!

"High priority"
A man on the run from the law has landed on the planet. He has called for his crew of bandits to pick him up.
You receive a message from local authorities *BOUNTY, Bill Carson. {amount}*
Do you capture him?
If you do capture him, his crew will either offer a reward for him or they will simply steal him back. Or you could simply kill him, sending a message to those raider scum.
Or do you deal with the raiders and wait until the authorities can pick him up and collect your reward.
[P.S. Bill Carson: Refrence "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly"]

"The End Game"
[When i read through the lore, I immediately thought of this as an end]
Your scientists have been running tests! And one of them seems to think they have found an experiment which will allow faster than light speeds! This is an incredible discovery, but with the current resources it will take a long time to achieve!
If you manage this feat of science, you can phone home and be rescued. This could even be the beginning of the transcendental stage! Anything is possible!
[Not a 100% serious idea, but an idea nonetheless]

Not sure on the coding capabilities (or if it's been said)

-What about a fire hydrant or sprinkler system where if placed, fire has a 50% chance of going out. Or something to that effect.

Off topic: I'm learning Software Engineering at University, what software did you use to create this game?

Thanks, I'll reply to the thread once I've played it. Even if I can't I should be upgrading my old laptop anyway.

At a guess, if you can play Don'tStarve or Minecraft this *should* be ok.

Hi, I have seen many people ask this but without an answer, What are the PC requirements to play RimWorld

For refrence, mine is currently a 1.3Ghz laptop with an Ati Mobility Radeon HD4330 (4 years old). I am able to play Minecraft at 13fps and Don'tStarve with 30fps
She's called Golden Syrup, since she runs so slow :)
