General Discussion / Re: Most tamed animals are garbage
September 08, 2016, 12:20:07 PM
It's not as though tamed animals are a test of your colony's
worth though. As such, it's more likely that taming is meant
to measure the environment's net worth. The world with high
radioactivity is worth more than a world with high toxicity.

Ideas / Colony collapse disorder for animals...
September 07, 2016, 04:47:56 PM
So, I was thinking about the bees yesterday and my friend said, "If colony collapse disorder is good enough for the bees then why can't Rimworld animals have it?" Of course, I explained to my friend then and there the Rimworld philosophy that animals have their own sub-cultures with complicated relationships. What may be inaccurately perceived as colony collapse disorder could be the plague. Only Tynan could say for sure. So, what do you think? Yay or nay?

Ideas / Re: Pregnancy as another way to boost numbers

You make some good points. I also like to see what I assume to be isotopic dating of colonists next to their non-isotopic age. However,
I'm not sure how you would approach such with children. Should we
have them drop in drop pods from fertility clinics in space? Would colonists think they're aliens and shoot them to bits before they would land?

Anyone have something dramatic happen in their colony recently?
I just had a short in the power grid that caused a fire. Nothing to be concerned about since my current colonist isn't my last colonist.
That one was incapable of fighting fires.

I can understand if there would even be a deposit charge provided to the stone carver/miner. As such, I suppose it's fine in theory to have something like marble or obsidian statue checking/savings accounts. However, I'm not sure that stone brokers would buy it. What do you think?

Ideas / Re: Send out your own trade Caravan
September 05, 2016, 11:05:49 PM
If you are going to trade I figure that something else is needed, like an alien abduction, and subsequent provision of Star Trek-like alien supplies.
Perhaps you could have colonists go off the map followed by an alien abduction animation. I don't know! Maybe Tynan could explain things better.

My rich explorer character Geghan, from the old game save file that I had to delete, had burning passions for melee, social, cooking, construction and mining. His starting disappointing score counts in them were 10, 10, 4, 6 and 6 accordingly. Geghan was 18 years old, psychically dull, industrious and an optimist.
I'm just grateful that he wasn't a fast walker and a brawler. That would have ruined the game for me. Prior to being deleted he had a starting score of 5 in shooting which made me question my upbringing. Now I feel relieved to be able to start again with a more realistic character.

General Discussion / Re: Optimal drug policy?
September 04, 2016, 10:51:07 PM
I think the question we should be asking ourselves, as a community, is not whether drug policy should be left to cities for issuing of medicinal business permits and revocations. As such, I doubt that the answer is to stockpile drugs for resale. I believe that Rimworld could allow testing of drugs on prisoners with the consequences being that rival factions may become increasingly hostile.

General Discussion / Re: Introduce yourself!
September 04, 2016, 07:10:02 PM
Gander's greetings to you. My handle is buttflexspireling and my dad introduced me to Rimworld. He said it was a good way to socialize and meet people.
My favorite other game is Azure Dreams. The annoying things about it were that you could fuse monsters and feed them element changing seeds to change say a fire attribute monster to a wind attribute monster. This was pretty much the same as hatching them from eggs, raising their levels in combat and breeding them in anticipatory cycles over and over again. Another annoying feature was that you could chuck items, such as spells, at enemies and fight at different elevations of terrain.
My favorite gaming-related story is that I sat down to play a game of Palladium with my boy scout friends one time when I discovered smoke coming from the tent. Apparently a burning stick had been left too near to the tent. This, of course, had set the tent on fire.
Finally, my favorite breakfast cereal is father's oats. My family likes to play pranks on the dogs by feeding it to them and then squirting them with the garden hose. The dogs hate the game but my family gets a good laugh out of tormenting the dogs this way.

Ideas / Re: Your Cheapest Ideas

The next idea that I think my neighbor mentioned were lich phylacteries for raiders. It wouldn't necessarily force player characters to visit the enemy bases to destroy the phylacteries. Rather, I suspect the player characters could trade for GPS technology from traders to locate and deactivate the devices.

General Discussion / Re: Is Ludeon Studios ONLY Tynan?
September 04, 2016, 01:06:24 AM
The main project manager seems to be Tynan even though the company itself is backed by a powerful and well-respected community organizer apparently.

I understand what you're saying. It just reminds me of something else at the moment. However, I don't think that Rimworld should make the game a competitive race to the bottom with player characters guesstimating the collective net worth of contributions. I think it would lead to uncompetitive exoneration for economic crimes in the long-run.

Lepretaurs, as a combination of a leprechaun and a centaur, and Centricorns, as a combination of centaurs and unicorns, are my ideas.
I figure that they could turn actors who work out at mines into a legitimate profession. Owners of mine exercising establishments (I suspect) could open up business as usual while providing betting contests on mining while working out... sort of like that movie Zoolander.

A potential setting for a new lunar-like biome or a scene for a new Dr. Who episode? Who knows?!

Ideas / Re: Does there exist a swampy biome?
August 30, 2016, 01:09:13 AM
I think I heard that the swampy biome has been in production for some
time. Unfortunately there are the voices of the many rioters that don't seem to know what they want. As such, the Ludeon team doesn't appear to know what to do to keep up with demand for new content lately. Perhaps it's political.
