(I'm not sure if this is the right section to put this in, but it seemed logical.)

As of 1.0, how many possible names can a pawn have, based on pre-existing names and player-submissions? Furthermore, what's the chance of rerolling the same name twice in a row at the colonist selection screen? Just curious.

General Discussion / Look, a wild Me!

Found this while browsing mods:

I submitted that name a while back, and have yet to see a pawn with it in the wild until now.

*small happy dance*

If a pawn got his/her leg cut/burned/bitten-off, I remember them being unable to walk. Now, they can walk around, but at 50% speed. When was this added?

A colonist that had suffered a permanent gunshot wound to the brain was killed by another one of my colonists. I remembered I had a resurrector mech serum, and went to use it on her. When she was revived, I checked her health tab to see if it was clear, and the brain injury was still there.

I understand that the fact that it was permanent would make it persist after resurrection, however the serum is said to also heal any and all medical problems, meaning that it should have been removed, right?

Edit: Turns out, a healer mech serum will heal permanent brain injuries, but some clarification as to whether the resurrector mech serum is WAD would be nice.

Stories / The Overlord Joins the Fray

[Bennett's Journal, Aprimay 7th, 5001]

Bennett never liked gardening. It was dirty, and usually hot. And the pulling of the weeds...oh, the pulling of the weeds infuriated him. Now, stranded on a supposedly deserted planet, not even the succulent potato plant could keep Bennett's fury at bay. (Bennett hates gardening so much that he now refers to himself in the third person, apparently.)

I once commanded entire armies. Now I am the commanded. And by whom? Who is nagging at the back of my mind? Perhaps I am merely a copy, a clone? That my commandeer has been me all along?

I know this system. This was no accident, that the ship exploded and that the three of us were "lucky" to be alive, but I am simply to play it off as if it were. And if my new "God" is anything to go off of, obtaining suitable living quarters will be a long and arduous task. We've been chipping away at a mountain for days on end, as a part of his plan. "Oh, I'll do what I did sometime ago: convert a small mountain into a base." He says, unbeknownst of the true scope of this task. Or maybe he DOES know? Maybe our minds are connected? I see a woman he calls "Cassandra" in my dreams. Or wait, did I know that already? I can't tell what the commandeer's memories are, and what are mine anymore. Or are they the same thing? I think my brain may melt, if my body doesn't first, in this stifling heat.

[Captain's Log: May 4th, 2018]

He's surviving well. I didn't think the consciousness translation would go so smoothly; most times the copy would end up diverging, want to return to the spectator's bench for a while more. Though, he screams at night about his lack of control: unable to sway minds, plan empires, and see the bigger picture as I can.

I fear his mind is connected to my own. He knows of the system, and its inner workings. He knows the crash was staged, that he was selected for his skills rather than his character, but he has the weight of a thousand doubts on my his, shoulders. In addition, I am occasionally relieved to find myself in my opulent living quarters, like I haven't slept in my own bedroom in weeks.

Randy is flipping his [REDACTED] over the fact that I insisted on Cassandra taking the wheel, and only letting him drive once (which was over a year ago).

Will continue to monitor Bennett (it's strange saying my own name in reference to someone else...). If he dies, I'll reload from a past file. Or I could just terminate the entire program, and start fresh with a new copy. I guess that'll work too, if my heart can take it.

According to this screenshot, this particular pawn has not experienced cryptosleep at all. Not even under a year, her biological and chronological ages are the exact same.

I submitted my name a while back, and I noticed that the last name defaulted as the nickname instead of the first name (which bugs me to no end), and I was wondering if there was a way to fix that.

Bugs / Growing Seasons (bug or WAD?)
August 05, 2017, 04:40:26 PM
Let's say you have a growing season that ends on the 10th of Septober. One year the season might end on the 11th of Septober, another on the 13th, another on the 9th.

Is this a bug, or working as designed?

I've hypothesized that growing seasons are dependent on not the given dates, but rather of the environmental temperature of which the crops are grown in.

Off-Topic / When it's sunny in January.
January 26, 2017, 02:13:17 PM
It's sunny today. At the end of January. In the northwestern US. It should be snowing down hard right now. "What are you on, and where can I get some?" I shouted that at the sky this morning. Then it started to rain...

General Discussion / Tutorial Changes
January 16, 2017, 07:53:55 PM
What should be done with the tutorial?

Should there be an option to continue, with some of the more advanced mechanics? What do you think should be done? A complete overhaul, a tweak here and there, or nothing at all? Is something already in progress? This is a question for the devs, and for the community, hence why I put this under "General Discussion" and not under "Suggestions" because this is just a discussion to get other people involved, not just a long list of what I think should be done.

I got nothing, and I don't want this to be a long post about my thoughts, so I want to hear what other people think.

Let me repeat: this is a question for both the community, and for the devs.

Creative Rewards / New Character, and a Question
January 11, 2017, 03:31:38 PM
I recently purchased the "Name In-Game" DLC, and my name is now in awaiting approval from our overlord Tynan, and his iron-fist-like dev team. (Look for the name "Bennett 'Bennett' Ruddell" soon. I'm pretty sure my submission is also the first to have "Bennett" as a first name.)

Furthermore, I have a question: I've heard around the Creative Rewards posts that names are usually added close to the next update. Would this mean the next major, or hotfix update? (My case being either Alpha 17, or Alpha 16b respectively.)

*beeps* Oh, that would be my alarm. I have to board a space-shuttle soon. The maintenance crews claim that everything is fine, but I'm not too sure. There have been quite a lot of ships exploding, and a lot more innocent people stranded on who knows how many planets in the past few months...oh, I'm probably just paranoid...what could possibly go wrong?

I decided to form a caravan in order to reach a ship site to beat the game. During the forming process, I expected the colonists to keep on working until all the supplies were loaded on, but instead, they just stopped half-way through and are now simply standing around. Drafting and un-drafting, and prioritizing other work does not fix this. Every so often they load one or two stacks of supplies on before going back to the same spot to stand.

I'm thinking this is might be the amount of supplies I've listed (about or over 100kg), but I'm not sure.

Bugs / [A15] Bug, or simple error message?
September 14, 2016, 06:25:41 PM
I heard explosions to find that one of my visitors had been killed by her own frag grenades while fending off a red fox. The sensible thing to do would be to to give her a honorable burial, and I placed her corpse into a sarcophagus. However, when I checked the art tab, like I usually do, I noticed what looked to be an error message. I'm assuming because it was not my colonist, nor a raider, but a visitor - specifically a trader. Reloading the game does not fix this issue.
