Take a look at the Mod section before you loose your mind ! :-)

The TV is powered and turned on, right? (I notice you have some coolers to the right turned off but I don't see the off icon on the TV... just double check though)
Also the TV is facing the table. So the 6 chairs in the two white boxes are the only ones that would be used for TV viewing.
Yep, the TVs are on. I've got the extra coolers because I get wicked heat waves. You're correct about the direction. That's a total of 6+2 colonists that can watch TV simultaneously. I think I've got 9 at this point. Should be enough TV joy...

If the seigers actually sleep, figure out which have the better weapons. Send your best fighters to sneak over to right next to these guys, then simultaneously attack. The element of surprise may give you enough advantage to down those guys and take their weapons. The others may even just flee at that point. Caveat Emptor: I've never actually tried this, as I've never gotten an early siege when my weapons sucked. Alternatively, what if you send a colonist to commandeer their mortar while sleeping, and fire a shell on them :-)?
Related question: Why is it that seige mortars can fire shells across the whole freakin' map, while my mortars only show such a limited distance? Not fair :-(

Recruit the doc, force them to go inside, then have somebody else build a wall in front of the door :-D.

General Discussion / Can't reinstall certain things

So, when starting a new colony, very high on the priority list is creating a kitchen & (especially if in a cold clime) butchering table / tailoring station. So as to ensure the colony has sufficient food and warm clothes for the coming winter, these items need to be built almost as soon as a base is begun. So, almost as soon as I hollow out enough room from a mountain, I begin constructing them.
Now, later on in the game, when my base is more completed, with much more room, it invariably occur that the initially-allowed placement of said production machinery is suboptimal. It would be obvious to be able to move such equipment as necessary - as can be done with beds and some other furniture, but there's no option to move these (same with a boiler or battery).
Anybody know why we can't move equipment? Is there any workaround, other than deconstructing & reconstructing, and therefore losing resources?

October 19, 2016, 03:04:32 AMQuote from: Thane on October 19, 2016, 02:20:43 AMAnd when nobody puts enough time into building the home, planting / harvesting, cooking, tailoring, hunting, etcetera, how long does the colony survive?
I generally set my colonists to a 'Playtime' schedule. aka All Joy All the Time! They have fun until they can't stand it then will work for a while. Then when they need more joy they fill it back up. Very convenient for keeping that plus 10 around.
Many times miners will walk right over that 3 hour joy window if it is in the evening set it in the morning if anything.

General Discussion / Stupid Crazy Colonists
October 19, 2016, 01:13:00 AM- wanderer joins colony
- complains about being naked (hahaha look at his tiny thing in the -3C weather :-D!)
- feeling bad for him and his manhood, I get him to pickup up crappy clothes from stripped raiders
- complains about wearing tattered clothing
[/list]
Thanks for letting me get that out of my system :-)!

Can you do a better job of defining your problem?
Is it that your colonists are never gaining any joy whatsoever (literally "No Joy") or you're just unhappy your colonists occasionally get slightly joy-deprived despite 3 hours of dedicated joy time.
Also, if you could include screenshots of your colonists' daily schedule as well as the TV setup (while TV is selected) that would aid folks trying to give feedback.
Sure, the problem is very simple. I keep getting the "No Joy" debuffs - both "Very joy deprived" and "Totally joy deprived" - on colonists despite plenty of opportunities and time for joy. I'm not sure how I could define it better than this. I'll send screenshots when I get back home. The chairs are in the TVs' viewing regions.

I've seen them use the horseshoes mostly. Seen them watch the TV at the dining table, as well as play pool. I've not seen anyone play chess in a while, never seen anyone watch the TV in front of the easy chairs. I don't have any mods.

What you can do if you need a doctor's constant supervision is build a small freezer on the side of the hospital, fill it with food and medicine and lock the doctor in the hospital. All they will do is feed, treat, eat, clean, cheer up patients and sleep. I often do this when plague hits or some other lethal disease.

Hmm. Won't my doctors automatically know this, though?

Why is an infection marked as "untreated" when a colonist is set to bed rest in a hospital bed, getting regular medicine, and a doctor is regularly caring for him/her?

I have a colony with 10 colonists. There is a TV next to the kitchen table and another facing 2 nice leather easy chairs. There's 2 chess tables, a pool table, and like 8 horseshoes pins. The time schedule is set with 7 hours "work", 3 hrs "joy", 7 hrs "sleep" and the rest grey.
Yet, I still see colonists complaining about low joy. Any ideas about this?
On a related note, I have never seen any colonists sitting in the nice leather easy chairs. Any ideas about this?
