Recently I found a mod that was new on the workshop that basically applies armor value to each layer it occupies and it got me thinking:

Why does power armor suck?

Well it doesn't suck per se, but it's not super great either. If you ask a Rimworld veteran, they'd tell you the best armor you can give to your pawns are devilstrand shirts, dusters, and armor vest. For the head, it's the power armor helmet.

For 135 plasteel and 18 components, a set of power armor is just not worth both the time and effort to make (except the helmet, which is worth to make). Devilstrand can be grown but plasteel/components are much harder to come by.

So, does power armor need a buff?

This is more of a general tribal problem then it is a resource problem. Tribals in Rimworld are so utterly bonkers in terms of tech they have much difficulty in adapting to climates that's not temperate or tropics.

Tribals IRL however range from bedouins to inuit people to steppe nomads. They have hard lives yes, but they thrive in it nonetheless.

General Discussion / Re: No trade ships?

The best thing to do is just setup in the scenario editor so you get caravan and tradeship visits every few days or so.

It reminds of that comic on the subreddit where the horseshoe pin is like 8 feet tall because it requires so much wood. It's kinda silly.

That's ..... a really good point.

While we're at it, we should also be able to craft them with steel and plasteel too. Put in crafting spot or a bench, whatever, lemme have my cool masks.

(Yes I'm aware of that one mask mod dont @ me)

Any other plans for giddyup? You got combat, caravaning, NPC compatability, yeah that's really all I can think of!

I agree.

Denim should basically be a pair of jeans that requires maybe twice as more cotton? It should be very durable because work jeans are just that.

Because leather pants really really don't work as work pants.

While we're at it, we should also have more pants varieties. Skirts for both men and women, cargo shorts, cargo pants, etc.

General Discussion / Re: Fiction primer

The fiction primer is super cool. I always recommend it to people who wants to write their own worlds. It's short, simple, but gives you vasts amounts of leeway to imagine crazy things happening in the grim darkness of the 5th millenium.

I kinda wish we had more of it.

Technically this would actually allow for creation of basements if you changed the artwork a bit.

Z-levels. In Rimworld. By God.

OP, you along with the other modders of the community, are angels amongst men. I have not enjoyed a mod this much since trying Rim of Madness. This will forever have a permanent spot in my load order.

Silly question but do the curtains block heat/cold?

EDIT: ALSO might want to link this mod to this thread in your steam page.
#342
oh wow that went terribly wrong

Fixed my post.
#343
Hey, thanks for all the help.

EDIT: That sounded waaaay more sarcastic than it meant to be. Thanks for the mod links and thanks for the help offer. I'll PM you on Discord as soon as I can!

To continue on my TribalsNeedLove crusade, can torches and campfires please not poof out of existence after they die out?

It's a major pain in the butt to constantly rebuild them in every room on the map just because your hauler/fueler spent a couple of days in the hospital because s/he's got plague or something.

While we're at it, can we make the scenario editor better?

I want to make quests appear every 5 days but can't. Considering that it can take chance and you can go YEARS without an AI persona core, I see this is a glaring issue. Antigrain, serums, those are luxuries. AI persona cores? Yeah, that's an important thing to get.
