Ok. thanks. Good to know the link does not change.
But then this means one will never be able to download a previous version?
I'll have to back up the whole game instead of just the save files.

Ok. Then I will have to wait. But still: How will I get the final A16? Will I get an email with the download-link?
Or how is that supposed to work?

Hi there!
I just read that the new a16 is out for testing. I can't wait!
But it seems I can't find no download link. I bought the DRM free version. An I am a notorious no-steamer.
How can I get the new alpha?

Healp!

cheers!

Did you ever see a space ship beeing build outdoors? Ever? They are always built in a hangar. Then rolled outside or launched through a foldable roof. Preferably a roof that can be covered by a fake lake or something. Every evil mastermind knows this is the way to go.
Gosh!

Its even possible to build a wind turbine inside the mountain. It will tell you it is blocked, but still. Should be the same with the space ships. You build it inside, doesn't start, your own damn fault. But it should be possible to place it there. This is kind of annoying to me. Because it is needlessly preventing my play style.

It would make such a nice power source for my cave forts...

Ha! I did think about that yesterday.
My observation is, that there are far more traders around that would buy clothes from you. The armchairs rarely sell. I think thats the point. You can make bazillions of arm chairs but you wont be able to sell them.

The thing is, I play my game on various computers and run around with a usb stick that has my current save stored.
If I start modding, I'll have to take care, that all PCs have the same mods installed.

And then there is my son who started playing, too. He has his own version of the game saved in his user profile. And he likes to load into my savegames to have a look.

The mods add a level of complexity I don't want to mess with right now. As long as I am not bored by vanilla that is ;)

Thanks for your comments.

So this is a bu.. ährm ... alpha version feature?

I can live with that. Not ready for modding (yet) but thanks for pointing in that direction. I will have a look at that modding thing :D
(Did anybody play the "X" games? By Egosoft? Without mods: lame. With mods: Best game ever imho...)

General Discussion / Produce until you have...

Hey guys, I have a bit of a problem understanding how those tasks (I play the german translation, so sorry if I dont use the correct english words...) inside the workbenches work.

For example: I want to have 500 marble stone blocks and 500 sandstone blocks on my stockpile at any time. And I have two guys to take care of it and two workshops for them.

In my mind, I would put two orders into both workshops:
Workshop1: task1: produce until you have 500 blocks - use sandstone
Workshop1: task2: produce until you have 500 blocks - use marble

Workshop2: same tasks.

But it does not seem to work that way. (It does not help that I cant read the numbers in the task settings, because they are overlayed by the "+" and "-".) But I have the feeling that the tasks don't know the differenciate between stone blocks made out of different rock types?

So I now set one bench to produce until 500 marble and the other one to 1000 sandstone. This setting will give me a certain number of both types, but it kind of depends on luck how much of both types I get.

That is a bit unsatisfying.  :o

I dont like the fact, that its not possible to make your own medicine. I too thought this was a survival game. And the colony should be able to sustain itself and evolve completely on its own. They can build space ships and energy weapons but are unable to make their own med stuff? Thats unrealistic imho.
And its limiting the sandboxy feel I like about the game. The devs should really think about that "forcing players to a certain play style" - minecraft did very well without that.

Just my 2ct.
