I tried playing around with spawning drugs by some hives, unless your going in every night to steal the jelly the bugs will prefer to eat the jelly over anything else.

So it would need to be either steal the jelly leave the poisoned food, or make the poisoned food have a attraction value equal to insect jelly.

Or it could work that you sneak in at night apply poison to the hive and the hive will just die/degrade in 24-48 hrs and then you are left with the Swarm who I'm guessing will just drink beer if that's the only thing around and you could just kill the bugs with alcohol poisoning, but it would be more fun to drive them crazy.

So this is just a idea but I was getting wrecked by my first A17 infestation and I was trying various ideas to deal with them and failing. Then I was looking at a few units of luciferium I had in the stock pile and was like, man it would be fun to feed some of the mega roaches this stuff and watch them devolve into madness and start attacking their own kind, but to my knowledge there is no way to administer drugs to sleeping bugs.

insects do eat if I'm not mistaken, but will they eat drugs?
I'm not sure how viable of a strategy for a few reasons
1 the time it takes luciferium to drive one mad,
2 the rarity of the drug
3 the size of infestations
4 the spawn time of hives
5 there is no way to guarantee that the big bugs will be the ones to eat the stuff. not much will happen if the all the scarabs consume the drugs.

But it definitely would be fun to watch bug colony slowly devolve into madness.

Definitely would be a fun idea for a mod.
take some Pemmican, mix with lucy 
makes several units of tainted food,
leave tainted food near hive
wait for madness to set in
send in clean up crew.

Well you see the trick is you have to craft llama suits for all your colonist and then sell all your "Llamas" and then your just act as stow aways.

Thou it is possible that all the ships which purchase animals are just automated hot dog/ glue factories and don't actually have sufficient life support on board.

actually its possible that all the orbital traders are just Vending machine ships which don't actually have a live crew. they are just operated by a AI.

this idea has been suggested before, and its still a great idea.

I'd even settle if it were just forming a contract for regular visits from a specified type of trader.

Right now I have to pretend like there are differences, currently the factions have no real differences except, outlander, tribal or raider.  Trait wise you can find cannibals and greedy violent murders who go on frequent drug binges in every faction.

thou you would really just become another out lander union, and then you gotta ask the question why not join one of the out lander unions?  I mean why are there multiple out lander factions? whats so different about them that they do not just coalesce into one group?

I like the idea of starting a Self ran colony, for the first stage of its development it would be very dependent on the home colony for many things and ask for Food, apparel, medicine, military support, and pawns with certain skills sets, and if you don't help it out it then could get destroyed.

Later on it would be a well developed colony, and could just look like any other faction base, and you can trade with (for very equitable prices), could provide a occasional pawn and might ask for the infrequent favor, and these colonies can take a few hits before being knocked back down to a undeveloped stage.

This could also serve as a practical money sink for very wealthy colonies.

Have a ton of wealth, well purchase all the slaves you can, Tell them their their own pawns now and load them up with materials, clothes and weapons and send them off to build their own colony.

Perhaps there could be Spots to build Hydro electric dams similar to how there are spots to Build Geothermal gens

Allow Dwarf Raiders to spawn from any overhead mountain tile.

You know because if people complain about how bad insect are the solution is to give them something else to complain about.

oh and follow up suggestion, introduce facial hair to the sprites

yea that seems to be controlled by the line <DestroyOnDrop>True/False
so that feature seems be too general to work for this idea.

The point of the mode is to be a fun mechanic, to help FORCE you to make your own stuff, not let raiders and traders drop the stuff into your lap, if you start as a tribal then you would have to use the stuff that you can craft.

there is no need to be strongly supported by any sort of realism. There is a feature which makes people explode on death, realism isn't NEEDED, it only needs to be a fun mechanic. Make it so you have to make your own weapons.


If you wanted to have realism behind it think of it as a very advanced and very cheap sort of authentication tech which is input into all firearms and designed to activate when the weapon is separated from its user.

the would also help explain why tribal people are Never seen with any advanced weapons.

back story wise it could be supported by the idea that if some tribals get their hands on some advanced weapons they can take over & absorb a lot of other tribes and easily and become a huge roaming war party which have a special disdain for outlanders and pirates, one because they are considered outsiders, and second because the smart warlords know that they can get more advanced weapons from these factions.

and so to prevent such a scenario from occurring standard practice has become to install all firearms with authentication/self destruct features. 

this would only make sense to affect firearms.

Perhaps Guns should break down into components, so that some of the cost of having to make more weapons can be recouped.
