For some reason, this mod appears to be making the game bug out and refuse to generate a world. I get the following errors:

The same thing happens with most of the rest of my Steam library. To the best of my knowledge I'm on the most recent stable version of AMD's Linux drivers.

Lauryn was her name, a former psych patient who spent most of her time in my colony as a farmhand and general dogsbody. She'd had a pretty rough life, but I like to think she found some measure of peace and happiness there: It was a nice little settlement, prosperous and well-defended with lots of amenities.

But thanks to a quirk of the layout, I had a bit of a problem with animals getting past the perimeter fence, especially in winter. And while Lauryn was walking along minding her own business a hungry coyote decided she looked appetising... and by the time anyone could get there to drive it off the bastard thing had torn off both her arms. Thankfully I had a prosthetic on hand, and was able to fabricate another soon afterwards.

And for another few years she soldiered on, picking crops and mopping floors and sometimes helping out in the lab, or trying her hand at sculpting or painting... until one day a raiding party showed up in drop pods while Lauryn was working in the fields, and she couldn't get away in time.

She was still breathing when another colonist laid her on a bed in the infirmary, but to all intents and purposes Lauryn was dead. Permanent brain damage, so severe that nothing short of luciferium could have brought her out of her coma.

She was one of the first colonists I've ever been truly sad to lose.

Even in the 54th century, the Old Earth genre of fiction known as the Western lives on. If anything it's got a bit of a boost in the age of interstellar colonisation, because the age-old story of hardy, hopeful pioneers setting up in virgin territory and building a village from scratch resonates with anyone who's ever spent any time on a rimworld.

And now these ardent Western fans, swayed by a perhaps overly romantic portrayal in various popular entertainment media, are going to live the dream... with a few additional mod cons like air-conditioning and flush toilets, mind you, we're not barbarians.

An "easy start" scenario aimed at beginners and players who find that actually, losing isn't all that fun when it happens all the damn time. In addition to the required mods, Simple Sidearms and Giddy-Up are strongly recommended to enhance your gameplay experience.

I'm a big fan of this mod, to the point where the old "Soda Garden" add-on inspired me to go and hit up Amazon to see if I could try out the more exotic ones in real life. But one thing has always bugged me: The way tea and coffee are handled. Making it in large batches and then sticking it in storage... As a dedicated coffee snob and a stereotypically English tea drinker, this disturbs me at a fundamental level.

Would it be feasible to create a "coffee machine" or "tea urn" building that functions a bit like the nutrient paste dispenser, in that pawns walk up to it and it dispenses tea or coffee while consuming some beans or tea leaves?

It loads okay with VG, but you end up with a duplicate entry for tobacco because the latter mod already has its own. Though I think this take on it is rather better.

Zzzt event in the main workshop area. I'd used wood floors and walls because I had a surplus of it at the time, and forgotten about a certain new feature in A18...

Six colonists initially rush in to try and put it out, but by then the floor's on fire and they're all promptly overcome by the heat. Five more colonists run in to try and drag them to safety, and then they get overcome. The only survivor was an elderly ex-mental patient with dementia, who was incapable of doctoring or violence. I sent him to an ancient cryosleep capsule rather than watch him struggle on by himself.

The moment when the colony's development reaches the point where I look at it and think, "You know, I actually wouldn't mind living here." Everyone's got their own bedroom, food production is ticking over well enough that there's enough time to plant some non-essentials like hops or smokeleaf, the rec-room is full of cool stuff and everyone has some free time to take advantage of it.

I know it worked for A16 because I think I bought the game just after that version had been released. And I searched the whole forum and got no hits; is the search function case-sensitive or something?

Anyone remember this mod? I found it on the Steam workshop a while back, but it didn't work for A17 so I had to disable it. And now when I search to see if it's been updated it's disappeared.
