I honestly find defending in early far harder than in late game. You have all the defensive positions you can get, all the walls and stuff - how could it be harder? Not to mention you get access to gear (especially armor) which makes probability of serious injuries FAR less likely.

I never use killboxes - I just make bunkers with covers and whatnot.

^ I can imagine someone who is starving and has several damaged organs can die from an infection faster than someone who is well fed and healthy.

This can be solved. But yes, it is somewhat annoying.

I think the problem is in the fact that pawns do tasks one by one, therefore they only carry enough resources to complete it once. They are fully capable of carrying more, or setting things up so that they can do it more efficiently.
It is problem of AI, and I imagine at this stage it isn't worth making it super optimal.

An example of how problem could be fixed:
If pawn is going for a cooking job, and the first needs him to do 20 meals (to me the demand), instead of taking 10 raw food, he'll carry as much as possible, and then start doing his work. For example, 75. He will then make 7 meals, and only after he has finished doing all of 7, he will take them to the storage. If you happen to interrupt him, he will either continue, or any other pawn who comes nearby will continue.
There are, of course, many problems to solve with AI in order to achieve that.

That and I also agree that working in -5C should make cooking far slower. Like 70% slower.

General Discussion / Re: [B18] Chemfuel Generators

Not only is it less refueling, but if you actually do the math (I did, but don't have the numbers on hand anymore), even the wood->chemfuel->power process via refineries is more wood efficient then just pure wood->power. IIRC it's something like 2x the power for the same amount of wood used.

Did you counted in that refinery is using power, tho?

Also, while useful I can't force myself to use them as main power source. Anyone tried basing whole energy grid on those?

I'd love to add to that.
Not only the game Ludeon made is great (and there is more to come), but also these guy's attitude is something to search for in current days of game development.
You can really see that they are into this. They cares about their game and listen to the feedback. But they keeps their vision and focus on what they want to do. I've already seen games that were out of focus and drifted in early access for eternity, achieving nothing for years... (person who makes art for RimWorld probably can tell something about it, eh heh).
RimWorld progresses slowly, but steadily. It is quite clear that Tynan knows what he wants to do with the game, even if the details aren't set in stone.

So yeah, thanks for the great game Ludeon. :)

And well, derp, we have no micro-transactions asshattery here, so... yeah. That is sad it is a notable feat nowadays, but a feat nonetheless. :P

It's never going beta. When you stop adding features, you can't claim that bugs, performance, and major issues (hello, enemy AI, hello, pathfinding) will get fixed after you stop adding features. Despite Rimworld's positive history, it's still stuck in this vicious early access cycle.

Well, jokes on you. It just did. There is no point in fixing all of the bugs if you are planning on adding additional features that would potentially cause new problems of the same nature.
I mean, it is clearly stated everywhere that it is what it is. You knew what to expect, yet here you are complaining. :V Reminds me of people crying on Battlefronts Reddit about EA screwing them over after they've bought the game... Why buy it, tho?

General Discussion / Re: Uber Extreme Difficulty?

You are running easier setup with lots of mods that make it easier for you, while at the same time you complain about difficulty? Ok. XD

You are also using mods to get pawns with passions to important skills. Try with pawns that are randomly bad with crucial things, so that you have something to worry about.

You are quite literally removing the option to get random, difficult problems to deal with.

While I partially agree, I think that in order to carry something pawn needs to respect both the quantity of items and its weight.
Simply put:
- you cannot carry something if it is too big (a giant block of styrofoam won't be heavy, but it will be too big to carry), even if it isn't too heavy
- you cannot carry something if it is too heavy, while being small (bucket of lead).

IMO pawns can carry way too many bricks at once now... ;)

What Bozobub said... :(

"Shouldn't of" (which isn't a thing) in the title also doesn't put my hopes high in terms of this text being readable at all.

I believe that the % absorbed is the % that the armor will take as damage and the rest goes to the part that got hit.
If armor has 100% absorption rating, it means that pawn cannot be damaged as long as the armor holds. But this also means the armor will get damaged very quickly.
And that is a good thing. You want armor to be damaged, not your pawn. :V

So after all I think it is better to replace armors than pawn's body parts... or pawns themselves. :P
