Help / Base Robots and Tool Use

I'm interested in giving the Base Robots mod (which is old and only grumpily maintained), a tweak which allows it to give robot pawns tools, and thus skill bonuses.

Thoughts, ideas, suggestions, questions?

Hi all -
Is it the case that one would have to PatchOperationInsert an entire Def into the core Weapons_Melee.xml file if one was trying to add a new weapon def that would only be spawned with one def of pawn?

BTW, MusicJoy is still unfinished.  I just thought I'd gloat for a minute there.

No really i need:
-more coders
-more graphics
and waaaay more enthusiasm!

Status Update 2:

Just in case you're following the MusicJoy saga, I have a friend who has just purchased the game (@serus716) and they are willing to help me with debugging my already written code.  Something about crosslinking my files is keeping the Joy from flowing.  Hopefully we'll have a good mod and a release by V18.

Now working on Testing and Re-vamping the setup of this mod.  I do realize that I need a way to incorporate the soundDefs into the mod package.

  • Reverse-engineering jobs and job code (see attached)
  • Core ListenMusicJob code is finished, so rework into JobDefOf system may occur
  • Build Package with SoundDefs Included

Ok, MusicJoy has made it back to the front burner again, and after a few failed attempts, my C# is improving.  What I really need is a C# buddy.  Big Ups and Thanks to @source for the textures, and as is the instruments only give joy to those that play them.  However, there is a LOT of coding to do, mostly repetitive once I figure it out.   

Alpha Version four will hopefully have group listening and you can play for your pawns while they work.

Also, still looking for samples and ideas.

Speaking of bugs, I've mostly been working on my mod "MusicJoy"  (shameless plug), so I haven't had time to chime in.  Here goes:

- Cockroaches: pawns have to stamp them, A LOT, and they bring sickness and eat crops
- Venereal Diseases (probably been said)
- Children and birth defects (or)
- Unwanted pregnancies that always miscarry
- Plugged toilets
- Geological issues disrupting structures (earthquakes & Vulcanism)
- Porn addiction and stripping
- Stalking, rape & other more serious personal crimes (by using compounded needs)
- Acts of a God
- Cold wars
- Hacking attacks
- Paint for structures
- Thatched roofs
- Golf carts, riding animals, Apes (three wheeled Indian cars), rickshaws, carts etc.  (the wheel makes its debut)
- Golf, soccer, baseball etc.
- Bottled beverages other than beer
- Occasional tsunamis
- Destructive weather events (wind, tornadoes, hurricanes, typhoons, etc.)
- Alien visitors...seriously, a space game without aliens?
- UFO flybys
- Gambling, cons and greed in general (maybe in the form of hoarding...secret stashes)
- Mysteries to solve, like whodunit (weird stuff happening off-camera)
- Visitors who claim to be cops
- Simians acting like tribesmen
- Rubber and Plastic
- Rail transport (easy to implement
- Amusement park rides
- MORE NOTICEABLE PAWN FEAR
- Inter-pawn money
- Secondary items
- Termites

I realize a lot of these aren't cheap per se, but I can't really tell the difference.

Ok, people listen up...i gots a hard one for you.  I've got a pawn carrying a lute.  She wants to play it, but can't access the billsTab to select a song.  Ideas?

A good solution to this would allow a grenade launcher underneath a gun, with selectable one-shot grenades.

MusicJoy Works!


Description:
A RimWorld Mod that provides players with a variety of musical instruments and music playback devices from drums and phonographs to SubSpace Radio.

Sub Topic
v0.3 Now includes Neolithic to Industrilisation instruments and the phonograph, as well as basic sounds.  All sounds are royalty free MIDI files played through Windows Media Player, and recorded in OGG format. The instruments only provide joy to those playing them at the moment.  Further improvements should be forthcoming.
