I would also like a 2D version of the Map, that way the game doesn't hang when going into world view.

Restrict access to the area to all but one colonist, other then that having hauling animals is another option.

This idea sounds good! I have 1 tweak though, when making items in bulk I feel like it should require a little less production (not a lot maybe just 10% off) to make them all.

I would also like the ability to preview a map before settling down, that way I can find a map that will fit the sort of base I want to build.
I don't see the problem with a more extreme version of Montainous. I believe it would be a fun challenge, the only problem is fortifications would be very easy to set up, which I consider spoils some of the fun.

Maybe with this, the raiders have an ability to make a bridge of sorts, but it takes them quite a while to make it. That way you can't just build trenches around your base and be untouchable.
