If you attitude is that it is hard and you are too lazy modding is probably not for you.
If you actually try it and stick with it for a while you may find that it isn't as hard as you thought.
I usually use Notepad++ for editing .xml files and Visual studio for code.
But there is not really any editor that will make mods for you.
