General Discussion / Re: Rabbits are for caravan driving
November 03, 2018, 06:42:57 PM
That's kinda brilliant. What kind of numbers are we talking here?

I've never been a huge fan of the average time thing, they should move as fast as their slowest member and be able to speed those slowpokes up to their fastest speed by not having them carry anything but no more. However, I'm totally willing to cheese it if the game allows and even encourages it.

I've never ever kept any rabbits. Any I got for free got slaughtered right away. But I assume they do fine just being relegated to a big grazing area like muffalo do?

You don't have to do achievements and they are not game changing.
Achievements personally and for many people are considered nice milestones to show how far you are in the game and satisfy yourself when completing some.
The achievements can be some basic ones for instance mine steel or have a pyromaniac set something valuable on fire, just an example.

You don't need to convince me (or anybody else who would want them) and from what I've read, you won't convince Wube. They're just not going to have them.

So I played an ultra-low-wealth game and won it on Randy Savage with few (but existent) problems.

However, I'm not sure how much easier it would have been, really. In the end I got bored pretty quick so packed up and headed to the crashed ship so I could just take off. Before that, I was seeing some raids that - precisely because I had such low wealth and therefore poor items - were actually getting difficult to handle.

Now, I refuse to micro everything (or almost anything really) so maybe this just isn't for me, but simply not having lots of nice things and not keeping extras of anything did not seem to be enough to make Savage a walk in the park. I think I would have had quite the challenge researching all the starship things while keeping the colony alive for years with very little to show for it.

As it was, when I decided to bail and head to the ship I was on the 3rd or 4th generation of the 2-4 people in the base, having all the previous ones die down to 1 person who held on until someone showed up to help. One of the final guys to take off was a Man In Black, in fact.

So while "Keep the wealth low" is great advice, it's not - in my opinion - the panacea that seems to be the trend in this forum. Yes it's better to not have a dozen sets of marine armor in storage, but I personally found it much easier to fight off raids of dozens of mechanoids with marine armor and charge rifles, than the few bandits that totally wrecked my guys that had leather clothes and poor quality autopistols.

They don't want achievements. So, there very likely will never be any.

Many people (myself included) disagree with this but many others agree.

Assigning outfits to prisoners would be cool. Both for MUH RP if there's some sort of orange colored fabric for the prison jumpsuit feel, and so they can have better moods when I try to recruit them. This is especially relevant for the occasional tribal prisoner whose clothes fall apart leaving him naked.

Don't prisoners wear clothing if you leave it in their cell? I seem to recall stripped prisoners putting their clothing back on before my pawns could carry them away...

Yes. I strip all prisoners and have a 1x1 tile that only holds tribalwear. As soon as they can walk they put it on themselves.

I think the only real solution (other than not coupling a rich colony with Randy Merciless) is to kite them so they spread out a bit so you can handle them one or two at a time. It's a bit dangerous but not as dangerous as letting 8 centipedes breach your base.

Not that I know of. You can't even kill downed bugs automatically.

I would suggest being able to "hunt" both. Simple and easy.

As far as i understand, Cryptosleep is not about freezing; otherwise it would have been called "Cryosleep". Cryptosleep sounds as if it has something to do with cryptography. Probably the sleep is induced by distracting the brain into computing cryptographic hash collisions, which, well, additionally makes space flights mildly profitable :-\
I thought it was a portmanteau of cryo and crypt, implying that when you went under you were technically dying.

So what was the advantage to freezing him to death instead of just euthanizing him?
The taste!

The mod "More Faction Interaction" does not replace raids with this event. Normal raids still comming. This mod only add a new event, where you can choose to pay or fight.
Yeah but the storyteller picks what to send at you, and every time they send this, they don't send something else. Is that something else a raid, or a cargo drop? I don't know the details of how the storytellers work but thought they space raids out and intersperse in "good" events to keep things balanced. Except Randy ofc.

I like the concept but wouldn't it make the game even easier? I mean, you're replacing a raid with an event that lowers your colony worth, which will make future raids all the easier.

Yeah one of my favorite things is that when people join the colony and are being chased by pirates, they frequently take their pants off and come running into the compound holding them like a white flag.

If they will take their clothes off to match my policies, your people should as well.

Bugs / Re: Cannot feed corpse to prisoner
October 30, 2018, 11:13:28 AM
This is why I love Rimworld.

"I can't feed corpses to prisoners. This is obviously a bug."
"I have the same bug!"
"Well obviously you must be missing something because there's no way this bug could have gotten through testing."
"No, here's more proof of the bug."

Not one person thought to post, "why are you feeding corpses to prisoners? Why are you feeding them to ANYBODY THEY'RE DEAD HUSKS OF CREATURES YOU MONSTER!"

Never stop Rimworlding.

Hm. I read it as they're too busy with their newly released game to answer every post where someone's worried that the obviously vibrant forum is collapsing.

Ideas / Re: Forming a Caravan needs fixing (BUG!)

I have a potential gameplay bug. I went to rescue a character that has a mechanite sleeping there. I can't leave the area because "there is still hostiles in the area". Even if the hostile is not dangerous, and would pose great danger to my colonists if I would leave the area fix the error by killing the mechanite.

(I realized it's called a mechanoid, not a mechanite)

You can manually collect everything and then run everybody to the edge of the map, and then form the caravan from there.

It's this way because there's a (significant) chance that you can't get everything without waking the mechanoid.
