Arachnophobia just got a huge update! A lot of unique changes, including a unique new Venom I helped the main Dev create! The spiders are damn strong now and cool. They even wrap up pray and drag it back to the nest.

I am using cults, the Storyteller, the monster one, and the books and Furniture one. So far it is rather entertaining! But Arachnophobia is my favorite modern of all-time potentially. It's like playing in a horror movie :P

Yup! As long as he has access to it, pets will always sleep in a sleeping spot over the floor.

For animals, I'm using animalcollabproj for variety, alpha animals, the chtulhu set with monsters and cults, and especially arachnophobia. The strong creatures in alpha animals helps keep arachnophobia in check as well as add interesting utility. They are.. Mostly balanced lol. Some areas still under work for alpha animals and arachnophobia has some issues but is still great.

He does have an infection in both lungs that I can't cure.. I don't know what all that affects or how bad it is. I think it reduces their effectiveness by 15% each?
Are you sure it's not Asthma? It can't be cured only treated, infections can be cured.
But you can always replace his lungs with harvested lungs. Every Illness will be gone!

Pretty sure that wasn't it, was something else long term.

It's still in a spot you designate, if not one exact square. But there is at least one mod that allows you to assign specific animals to specific best just like colonists.

Also, I would recommend putting them somewhere other than a wouldn't Barn, especially if you have boomaopes, as any kind of fire from an attack or event will rather quickly wipe out all of your animals. Or at the least, leave the majority of them with bad Burns. I generally try to give them a cave, less likely they will be focused during a raid, failing that, I stonewalled and closure.

I think the simple answer here is "Economics".

That's a bit besides the point imo.. It's not so much about having them for combat because the game needs more combat options, though it is lacking in melee.. But more about the animals themselves for people that like animals and Rping. At least in my opinion. Though leaving a mechanic in game that feels incomplete  isn't good lol.

Thats still kinda just a band-aid for the issues lol, but its something!

More importantly though... I found when my cougar got its ear bitten off and otherwise generally mauled by a bear, it only had 4 hours left before bleeding out, and I couldnt operate on it... Until i made a animal sleeping spot for it. It just kept wandering around without one, but sprinted to it when i placed it and lay down for me to operate.

Also, sleeping spots let you pick where they sleep, instead of just dropping into sleep wherever within their allowed zone. Which is nice, when under attack. You can make em always sleep somewhere more protected.

I haven't played the standard Map size since the tutorial, it may be the same way there.

You are comments about them spying on the edge and one ring randomly makes sense, I very rarely see a small animal like a rat get to the center. I have also never noticed animals going after my Farms, which I often see people complain about on forums.

However, I am looking for a fix more than an explanation haha. I'm not sure what that would look like, if they do indeed Wander randomly which seems very likely. I really wish devs put a little more time into making the map viable on larger scales. I have tried to shrink my scale as much as possible because I like a challenge and that apparently messes with the AI in the warning. But I also love my space because I believe there are more animals overall even if they are stuck near the edges! And I love my critters. Maybe if I did and animal breeding mod haha. But I don't want that to get too out of hand.

Lmao thanks, but not exactly what i was looking for:P

Well... what do you like?

If you like animals, extreme biomes, hot or cold, dont have many.

I have done boreal, jungle, and arid, and look forward to swamp as its so different! I would say jungle or a swamp.

On larger map sizes, animals don't go to the middle of the map... They hover at the outskirts. Even on just 1 size bigger than standard. Is there a mod to fix this? Populate the map more or at least spread em out?

I just want em to do perma death lol. Save scumming sucks.
