Ideas / Re: Observed corpse is too OP

This is the suggestion forum so here it is.

Supply wagons.  They can be used to journey to fight off a siege attack and provide food/shelter/sleep for your colonist.

As far as colonist freaking out over bodies, perhaps the effects should lower each time it occurs?  Like the first dead body seem is a huge negative but the 2nd time it isn't as bad, and so forth...  that way by the time you do slaughter 10 people it'll have the effect of 1 on a seasoned fighter as opposed to a new colonist.

If you crash land on a planet your not likely to find fruit and veg from your local stores there atleast very little chance surely?

Wouldnt it be better to add a research line for each bit of food found on the planet before you can consume it, like researching animals to make sure they dont carry some deadly virus or bacteria and research planet life to make sure they not poisonous etc.

Would add abit more to the research tech tree and maybe add other ways to cook food? home made BBQ over a firepit? etc :)

Just ideas make as you will of them.

You just crash landed on a foreign planet.  You are hurt, thirsty, hungry, and tired.  The last thing on your mind is to set up a research facility.

I would find a pistol, grab some food, and force the guy who just wouldn't shut up the whole trip before we crashed to eat it.  If he's still alive a few hours later, I would assume its somewhat safe and eat it.

Your people should just get ill if they happen to eat a poisonous plant or infected animal.  Research/cooked meals would be good later on though, just not at the start.

Ideas / Raid the Raiders

How about our colonist are tired of being the victims or just need some supplies to survive?

The player could initiate a raid against any one of the factions they are sharing that planet with.  You could send 1 or all of your colonists on the attack.

The attack would take place on another map (prebuilt tribe bases, from the developers and the community).  There would be a travel time once you initiate it and supply wagons would be needed so your colonist can survive the journey and also to return with the spoils.  A relentless, heavy assault could burn up the very resources you came for so their is always risk in attacking.  These colonists may starve and never return.

The tribe you attack would have an effect on all the other tribes.  If you attack a peaceful tribe, all the other tribes become wary of you.  If you slap around a raiding tribe then those that despise them will favor your actions.

Another danger of this is that the storyteller may decide to attack your base while all your colonist are away!

this is a very good idea... i had one like this to but i was thinking making some small lakes and or puddles after it rains or something

A small river or lake running through the land would work.  A desert region though would contain none of that but again research can be used and have your colonist create a lake/river.  You could create a river but if it's not generated with the map then no water should be coming in from off map.  You would just use the river to move water from one lake to another.

Bodies of water would add another food source, fish.  Fish would have to be purchased by trade for man-made lakes but generated ones would already come with it.

You can see where I'm going with this, making the truly desert maps the hardest.

Has anyone else had this happen? Strangers come into your colony and eat your meals even if they are forbidden?

Forget those strangers, it's them squirrels you need to worry about!  At least the squirrels provide meat...  Well, strangers provide meat as well.  Problem solved!

Alpha 5 is ready to go but I want to get some good testing volume in on it. If you're interested and willing to mention if you find a bug, please post here and I'll add you to the public tester crew. Thanks all!

Please add me to your public tester crew.  I assume if I install into a different directory it won't affect the stable alpha version?  Just want to ensure if it crashes every 5 minutes then I can report it and go back to the more solid alpha.

Ideas / Re: Colony Reproduction

Immediately after crashing "most" people would not be having sex on the mind.  But I like the idea and it could work.

Just like the colonist can have mental breaks, why not feelings that they are never getting off this rock?  Eventually some fall in love and sex is a natural human desire that can happen.

As a man who has cheered at a negative pregnancy test, sex doesn't guarantee pregnancy...  Also their could be a hidden stat where some men/women are infertile.

Crash victims could be a pregnant woman as well.

If pregnancies are based off real time, it would take a long time for a child to be born and grow into a productive member.  You just couldn't instantly explode your population from this and the danger of death during birth would be high for mother and child (lowered by doc skill and technology).

Ideas / Water/Cactus

This is a survival game and the 3 things vital to survival are water/food/shelter.

Early game it could start like this:  There are cactus in this game and that can lead to a chore where your colonist can extract the water from them and perhaps a little food (that way your starting colonist aren't completely overwhelmed with this task to start).  Also the ability to build just a basic bucket for rain water collection.  Water can be plentiful or scarce based on the map which adds another level of gameplay.

Technologies can be researched to put in wells/larger rain water collectors, water storage, etc.

Water would be used to add another need to colonist that must be meet.  Also plants would require some degree of water and can die during extreme droughts.  Irrigation would prevent this but would use up that precious resource.
