From a profit perspective Pack Animals aren't worth it for long term trade, but they do provide a means of transporting heavy items reliably without using up componentsome, steel, and Chem fuel.

There should be a tick IMO to feed the animals from the caravan menu with the caravan food.

Personally I find them useful for the muffalo wool, or camel hair. Though cloth, and devil strand are more useful, I just like the the theme

General Discussion / Re: Flooding on coastal maps

Seasonal tides/flooding would be a realistic addition though this would belong in the suggestions area.

I'd love to see ships and pirates :DD

Off-Topic / Re: Immigration discussion

Immigrants aren't your own nation's citizens. It's more or less an invasion if they decide to squat on Govt land. But honestly the thing is Europe had pretty open policies and narratives of letting them stay, running most of the world organization meant to prevent war, and aid those in need.

Essentially a bunch of white people got together said they'd help make the world a better place, and now the world comes to their door step.

Just like giving a handout to a hobo, Europe is reluctant, but feels obliged to help. Opinions are changing turning more conservative in response, but this is seen all the time in the USA where conservative parents, and idealistic liberal children at odds in the political spectrums.

One hoards resources, the other wants to hand them out but there's not enough to give unless it's somehow produced.

Feeding and housing immigrants should be a given, refugee camps can do that. But giving a social and economical lifestyle isn't practical. IMO feeding and housing is only as good as preventing massive crime from starving desperate people. They ought to have their own nation/lands. And that's what Israel is for. The creation of a new land for immigrants.

Ideas / Varied Research Methods
June 10, 2017, 02:53:31 PM
Instead of linear researching, I think it would make more sense if talking to prisoners increased the research of a particular category based on their skill set.

A space engineer would increase say cryostasis research if not simply unlock it when talked to by a scientist.
Basically the friendly chatting is discussing about who he is, and what he knows. Unlocking and/or increasing the knowledge of the topic faster.

IRL tribals will not have a single inkling about how to start researching electricty let alone be able to move on from there to building a space ship in like a few years with no outside influence. Instead to unlock the option to study electricity, they'd have to capture a civilized person and interrogate him. (I.E. that first pirate that attacks any colony)

Is there a list of CE guns?

IMO most benches should just be 10x faster.

+1 it would be nice to be able to return to abandoned bases. If anything to recollect the resources.

Makes sense IRL rock crushers are a thing.

However, IRL most machines need operators and repairmen all the time. Working 9 to 5 making sure the machines don't break.

Though some feeding mechanism would be nice, like if slag and rock chunks could stack.

So people wanting to explore more and travel? TBH I think it'd be an annoying joy thing to add in since it's a high risk factor when taking care of pawns.

Though I do want the map to be more spread out but IMO the biggest issue is simply rendering ability. it'd lag too much.

"Fridge" - a shelf for food,

A range restriction on how far you can *bring* something to a storage area, making it possible to set up staging,

"Trade doors" - restrict doors to specific tasks (so you can set up an abbatoir that people can't stroll thru; up to you whether people on a mental break will ignore these rules)
I second fridges

Mods add some of these.
Though TBH the real problem vanilla is that most people make their defenses OP. Turrets are kinda weak for that reason.

I always thought that there was a better chance of them joining if you provided incentive. Like an open bed in a decent room and available decent clothes. Could just be my imagination though.
I noticed it too, the better they like you the more likely they'd stay.

No idea why people are defending an obvious bug, citing "It's ONLY a -3 penalty" as a justifiable excuse.

IRL someone once tried to argue "It's just ten dollars," so I replied "Then you won't miss it."
Honestly I wouldn't miss it. If there's a value low enough that a cashier takes from me like a few quarters I'd be ah whatever probs tax.
