Thanks, that helped!

I found a good seed too if anyone else needs this. "Town" has about 18 spots that are near a road and on a river, large hills, boreal forest. Sadly none with a road but close enough so caravanning is still efficient.

I'd really like to play on a Boreal Forest map with any road and any river, preferably large hills. I have the Prepare Landing mod to make it easier. But my question is, how do I play with the base settings at world gen to get a planet with a lot of Boreal Forest (so Prepare Landing has more to sift through) without making it obscenely cold? None of the worlds I generate have any significant amount of Boreal Forest, so Prepare Landing can't find any tiles that meet my specs.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I haven't looked into this myself but I was reading new mod threads and this might be what could help make your life easier: https://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=43395.0

Ideas / Re: Gourmand seems unneccarily bad

Davetlow if I had your issues I would restrict the gourmand to the home area and treat him/her like a non violent pawn. Either a hauler, cook or cleaner. I have a gourmand right now who's actually a really good cook and this is working well. She's been malnourished in some fights and I just undrafted her and let her do her business in home area while the rest of the pawns fight. She's basically like a labrador retriever that can cook and clean and haul more things!

That would entirely depend on whether they were a prosthophobe or a prosthophile!

As a gourmand I can assure you that I've never starved to death or become malnutritioned. I'm just a fatty that goes on mental breaks IRL when I don't get my bacon and this is how it should be in RimWorld too.

Well you know all that shielding that empaths need to do just so they can function in a supermarket is really taxing on them. So after a few years you can be pretty sure they're all psychically deaf. :D

No. You have to research it now

Ah!  Now I see that.  Thanks. :)

But, you can no longer grow them indoors in B19! Keep that in mind, especially if you plan on any extreme biome games.

There's a whole suggestion in itself. Add a research called 'vaulted roofs' that allows you to build really high roofs that allow you to grow indoors. Also skylights should be in the base game like Dub's mods.

Tynan love all the updates. B19 is so smooth and efficient on Mac with the 64-bit version. All the lag is gone. There's a massive difference when I compare it to gameplay on the B18 version.

The one thing that saddens me that's gone is the downing mechanic for mechanoids and the scyther blades. Hope someone can add this back with a mod. :O

Thanks that was immensely helpful. On Mac you don't have it as easy as you do on Windows so you can't right click and set parameters on an program but you do have a terminal where you can just type something like:

./RimWorldApp -savedatafolder=SaveData\

to start your game.

I didn't specify a folder and it did indeed create all of the SaveData info in the root directory (of the game not the system) as I hoped it would. I then went into the RimWorld package itself by right clicking and 'show package contents' and simply dragged all the beautiful 1.0 mods that I've got off this site into the right directory and now it's ready to go.

The only thing I still need to do to save myself typing out the above is to make a shell script and save it as an application but I'm too giddy now I can play unstable so I'll do that later.

I have two copies of the game and I'd like to get them running in separate install locations but the Library/Application Support folder is really throwing me off (they both want to link to it no matter where I install them).

So I'd like to use my Steam account to run 0.19 games and I've also got a DRM free copy of the game from the site. I'd like to be able to run either of them at my leisure without the game telling me it updated and having to go through the trouble of moving mods around and the painful process of enabling them (because I use hundreds of mods).

Can anyone walk me through how to achieve this on Mac OS X? How do I tell a copy of Rimworld to stop looking at the Library/Application Support folder and use some other folder?

Appreciate any advice!

I like this idea a lot and will fit into one of my save games really well. Whenever the pawns in that save go on a mental break everybody near them goes draft mode and melees them till they're down. This is going to be really good.

"Raw corn and no mental breaks! Deal with it, peons!"

Greetings this is my first post. Been playing this game since Alpha 17 and it's probably the game I play the most.

I don't think wealth is a bad metric and have always liked it. I think it just needs to be fleshed out to be more realistic because I agree that in alpha it was fine the way it was but for full release it needs to have some flavour. For instance there's a lot of mods out there that increase the types of traders that come to your base and give tons of different factions. Why not have raids based on your wealth and type of faction raiding you? For instance pirates would react to the value of drugs and weapons you have, tribes to the value of food you have, corporations to the value of buildings and structures you have? Etc. Then you could thematise it even further if you were a mod maker and for instance the Sparkling Worlds Mod Blue Moon corps might go for colonies that stack prosthetics, weapons and medicine... or the Walkblem guys could go for colonies that stack the stuff they make, etc.

Anyway I like wealth but it definitely needs fleshing for full release! By thematising the wealth-raiding system it could also make it very moddable.
