Help / Re: Copying colonists?
February 27, 2014, 05:18:48 PM
Where in the save file are you pasting the copied colonist? You cannot add them to the end of the file, they must be contained within the <things> tag.
#1427
I was not able to reproduce the bug with your saved game.
For me they were able to rescue him and place him on his bed. I did have to order one of them to do it, but afaik that's normal.

Help / Re: Copying colonists?

Your colonist might be, quite literally, appearing in a wall. I forgot to mention you will mostly likely need to change this tag when copying them over: <pos>(128, 0, 12)</pos>

Easiest way to know where to put them it to get that tag from someone already present in the new colony, and copy their <pos> tag to the colonist you are copying over.

Yep.
Search the save file for the name of the colonist in question, then copy the entire section and move it to the new save.

The section will start with: <thing Class="Pawn"> and end with: </thing>

Here's the entire section for a single colonist from one of my games:

Apparently if I flip the metal wall atlas vertically, the game displays my wall texture correctly.
Is it safe to assume this is a bug?

Help / WallMetal_Atlas not displayed correctly in-game?
February 27, 2014, 07:31:15 AM
If I extract the metal wall texture from the resources file, and then use it as a texture for a new wall I'm making for the Wood Economy mod, well, I'm confused.
The wall on the left is the wall available normally in-game. The wall on the right is my wall.
Why is the atlas image messed up for custom walls? Is this a bug, am I doing something wrong, or do I need to create my own atlas?

Mods are quite easy to make once you get to used to them.
I fully recommend giving it a go. All you need is Notepad (And something like Photoshop or GIMP or Paint.Net for making textures.).  :D

Bugs / Re: Unable to capture anyone

There's a saguaro cactus blocking the door to the room you're using as a prison. Removing it allows your colonists to capture that raider.

What anti-virus software do you have?
What have you tried to get the game going? (Administrator account, 'run as administrator', etc?)

If you are comfortable with manually editing the Windows registry, and are fully aware of the problems that can arise from incorrectly using a registry editor, and are willing to not blame me if this doesn't work or something goes horribly wrong, here's something you can try:

1) Start RegEdit (Windows Key + R, type in Regedt32 and click Run/Ok)
2) Navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Ludeon Studios\RimWorld
3) Set the following keys to the following values:
• Screenmanager Is Fullscreen mode_h3981298716
Set to: 0
• Screenmanager Resolution Height_h2627697771
Set to: 768
• Screenmanager Resolution Width_h182942802
Set to: 1024
4) Exit the registry editor
5) Try to start the game

If the problem is simply an invalid display resolution, the above might fix it.
