Thanks. I do have some C# experience, although the bulk of my professional experience is in C and C++. Maybe I'll give it a shot when I have time. XML would be a cool thing to add to my professional resume.

Ok, so what do you need to develop Rimworld mods, or mods in general? I kinda want to try it. I am a software developer, but I work mostly with behind the scenes calculations code and have little experience with GUI. Would be nice to expand my skills.

This was Penny Chillax on buiilder difficulty. My colony was getting large, I had more than 50 people at that point.

Looks like with this mod it fails to generate a map every now and then. It seems to be related to desert environments and weather.

I uploaded debug log here, maybe someone can figure it out. But basically, as that tile is generated, this message is logged multiple times:

Exception in UIRootUpdate: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object

Adding: this may have something to do with desert environment. When I had a colony in a forest, most of my quest destinations were in a forest of some type, and I have not encountered this issue at all. But when I had a colony in a desert or on the edge of it, and my quests were also mostly in the desert, I've seen this bug over and over.

I really love this mod and I hope this will get fixed.

General Discussion / Re: Introduce yourself!
April 01, 2019, 06:01:57 PM
My name is Tanya, I live in the USA. I am probably on an older end for RimWorld (or gaming in general), I'm in my 40s. So,...

-What introduced you to RimWorld? Or to this style of game in general?
My son introduced me to it. He said I should try a different style of game.
-What's your favorite other game?
Baldur Gate series. I played BG1, BG2, IWD1, IWD2 and all their expansions and improved editions that came out.
-Most embarrassing gaming-related story?
I accidentally harvested a lung from a colonist. Just clicked on the wrong choice and didn't realize that until it was too late. I also had cats overpopulate in one of my first colonies. They ate all food, drank all beer and developed a host of alcohol-related diseases. And then the colonists starved too, because cats ate food faster than it could grow.  I felt like a crazy cat lady on that colony (which is kinda funny, because IRL I am not a cat person at all). But I understood why in old days they used to kill off kittens and puppies and just leave one or two from the litter.
-What kind of breakfast cereal is the best?
Personally I like granola-type cereals. And I like to put fresh berries on them.

Bugs / Empty map bug
April 01, 2019, 05:38:49 PM
I have seen this a few times, but now that I actually have an account here, I figured I'll report it. The bug manifests itself like this - my caravan arrives to a quest tile, and there is no map. Everything is dark, and pawns are not placed, it's like they arrived into a void. The only option at this point is to reload the auitosave and reroute the caravan. I don't remember if I had this problem on the first couple of colonies, before I added mods, but I did fewer quests then, as I was just getting a feel for the game.

I uploaded debug log here, maybe someone can figure it out. But basically, as that tile is generated, this message is logged multiple times:

Mods / Rational Romance or Psychology mod
March 31, 2019, 03:42:37 PM
So as I understand, Rational Romance mod is not compatible with Psychology mod. At the moment, I have neither of them active. Which one would be a better choice?

How many people did you have?
#69
I had cats overpopulate because I didn't thin their numbers and they got hungry and got into my liquor and developed a host of alcohol-related diseases. That really messed up my colony, too, because they would eat up any meat immediately before I could even haul it to a freezer.

Stories / Death by meteorite
March 28, 2019, 11:54:55 AM
My colony is well-protected against raids so to kill off my pawns the storyteller dropped a meteorite as my caravan was taking off. The result - 6 dead pawns and 8 dead animals.

Got more boomalopes and tested it again. They can only get peg legs. I crafted an animal bubonic leg, it now shows up on a list of possible operations for my husky, but not for a boomalope

Mods / Recreational mods
March 20, 2019, 06:56:25 PM
Are there mods that expand upon recreation choices? Standard rec choices are horseshoes ppin, chess (or ur board and ring for tribal), poker, pool table,  TV, telescope and then of course beer and drugs. Maybe there is more rec stuff pawns can do. Like maybe a gym, or a video arcade. This may sound silly, but I built a mess hall/party room with hardwood area in the middle which could be used as a dance floor. I also built a sort of art gallery for legendary sculptures. Pawns do go in there to look at artwork.
#74
Yes, I have that mod. So not sure why it didn't work for a boomalope.

The bioattacks seem to go on forever. The tooltip said it was permanent, but the first one lasted for about 20 days and so did the second one. That's kinda long. Would be nice if it was scaled for relaxed players.
