It does give a small speed boost. Best thing is when colonist chooses to walk somewhere they path to the least resistance. example:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ci_MR1TuffE&list=UUP_Vs5WYfS2tZ1lqbqtTsWQ&index=5  It would be very easy to make a super fast walkway that gives mad bonus to speed. This would work. I love the idea of mine carts and tracks. This would make logistics a lot of fun. They already have conveyor belts in the industrial rim world mod. +1 to this post!

Get rid of the arbitrary trade ships. Have all factions slowly gain materials over the course of the game. Have prices directly related to how well you are received by each faction. Faction standing depends on how you treat your guests when they arrive for their visit. (They will request donations for materials and you will make a choice to give it to them or not.) Or they will get into a scuffle bucket and if you save them and release them you will have better faction standing with them and therefore prices will go down.

I would also like to see factions move next door and start building their own base on the different side of the map <- pipe dream

The problem with cave ins is sometimes I don't envision tunneling under a mountain at all times. When there is a small area to be mined out that is only a few blocks by a few blocks I highlight the whole thing and there is a cave in. I dream of a Z axis so I can see how many layers a mountain has.

I dream of supply chains using trebuchets to launch resources from the mine to my main base. I also dream of launching the corpses of my fallen foes upon an enemy camp for psychological warfare reasons!  (-15 observed flying corpse)

The problem here is that the solar flare arbitrarily just knocks out power. The solution is for solar flares to knock out just power plants and not the full grid. Therefore, even if your base is running on geothermal you can weather the storm with backup batteries. This would make batteries useful in all situations while providing yet another layer of strategy.

The issue here is really a stress problem. It is very stressful on a colonist to walk clear across the map to do anything. The colonists need a comfy bed and a hot meal. When they don't find that out in the wild they will get grumpy. We need a survival backpack with a tent and survival rations (that are lighter than regular rations) so that it can provide temporary comfort to traveling colonists. Then there has to be a need to go there. Maybe rework the research system so that the tree is actually out in the world with discoverable relics. However you need to research the artifact for several days which will require some colonists to be away from home for an extended period. Set up a little tent and pack some food for a week so the team can get the research done and return with (insert researchable item here)

I have been playing a lot lately and have found it rather annoying that I miss the message that I'm being attacked and am constantly surprised when attackers show up. I suggest automatically setting the game to pause or slow when a red message arrives that way I will actually notice the notification.
