General Discussion / Re: Introduce Yourself!
October 01, 2013, 07:03:21 PM
-What introduced you to RimWorld? Or to this style of game in general?
Searching for a replacement of the long lost DF feel the game has come to a stall.
Stonehearth is to far off.
Ultima online isnt what it used to be before they canned the powerhour

-What's your favorite other game?
Ultima online, Eve online, Dwarf Fortress, Open Transport Tycoon, Fallout 1&2, Jagged Alliance 1&2, Factorio and Iracing

-Most embarrassing gaming-related story?
I coppied top40 songs on my rambo cassete back in the old c64 days. Still waking up with tears and screams in the middle of the night.

-What kind of breakfast cereal is the best?
No breakfast. People shouldnt wake up at a time when food is still called breakfast.

Furthermore what can be said about me.
I'm autistic wich causes me to overdo stuff. Played eve online with 6 accounts. Stopped the game because it became too much like work.
I really love carpfishing. The only moment the voices in my head stop and i can actually enjoy the piece and relax on my stretcher.
Besides that i do a bit of mtb.
But my biggest passion is testing games. Ive been a councelor in ultima online YES i had a blue robe d-;
Ive been alpha beta and whatever testing for about 16 years now. Managed to brake quiet some games over those years and find nice bugs. Been a moderator of alot of webforums/games i tested and always enjoyed he fun..

Ow and for those who remember first season Planetarium. -=Concordium=- second season WAC We Are Concordium.

Damm im getting to old for this shit d-;

Ideas / Re: Got an idea for an incident?
October 01, 2013, 06:39:00 PM
I havent read all thats already been said.
But just my 2 cents.

- One of the immigrants could be a serial killer you'd actually have to visually see who it is.
- If your food outnumbers > your number of peeps food should become rotten and should lure in some nice critters or spread a sickness among your people so your medbay/doctor has some more uses.
- When you hole up your people to much and when they miss daylight they should become sick over time. Or become sick when walking outside again. One of the most awsome DF features there used to be.
- Bigass firestorms. We are on some unknown planet who knows when or how close past the sun we move. A nice research building/tool could be hooked up to this incident telling you approximatly how close to the storm you are. So will you keep working outside or run inside close the doors and hide. Offcourse a late game incident as it will roast buildings from certain materials.
- Has anybody already talked about worms. God i miss dune's worms. only hardened ground is safe. One of Herbert's best creations d-;
- Winter is coming... ow shit wrong game.
- But above all the thing that often goes wrong in games like this is that you must really build well defences for invasions.
DF makes it to easy to bypass invasions with certain traps/builds. Invasions should have different ways of attacking you burning your village braking down doors. scaling walls with ropes or ladders. For all i care you give them engineers to build stuff on the spot. So when they cant reach you they set up a minicamp and start building up a assault. And maybe if you dont kill them fast enough let them get reinforcements who will bring the siege equipment. So many dammed options d-;

well many more but im curious to what you would add or want.

It almost feels like those rep. and dem. are fighting a civil war.

At first not much will be felled but in the long run it will affect many things. Its like a domino effect.
Both parties seem to know whats better for the people. So how come 2 million people are now sitting at home?

We should give them all minimum wage and than look at how fast stuff will chance

No no, this wasn't a bug, it was a sophisticated personality-expression algorithm! The oafs are always doing aw-shucks-type fun stuff like this! Look at the crazy trouble they get themselves into! Har har!

bugs???? bugs? pffft features i would like to call them.

Are you planning to do a few "early birds" as well ?
That usually works wonders.

Oh! Now I understand. No, no cheap early bird rewards. I don't want to clutter up the rewards listing and I don't think it makes much difference anyway.

What i can advice is dont make too many tiers it will just clutter up.
I always think that a max of like 10 tiers is enough.

What i personally dislike is stretch goals i dont know your view.
But id say every penny above the wanted amount should go into creating a better game not bigger.
The sales from the released game can be used for that.

I always feel like stretch goals are something like we sold you a 50% game and for more pay more.

But hey thats my 5 cents. d-;

If you take for instanse timber and stone.
He added a tier that made you a tester and gave you acces to the tester forums.

You get some extra kudo's and people who are that dedicated to be a tester can test for ya (-;

i for one would throw all my monies in there well atleast as far as the wife allows it d-;

furthermore i would love a tier in wich you would get to help design a event (invasion) thingydingy.
i got plenty of ideas out of the thousand books i read

You are in luck! Designing an incident is actually one of the reward tiers.

good good.
you are doing good work sir.

So are you adding the paid testing? or is that something you are considering.

Like at amount A you get acces to the complete game updates every when you get something stable
and amount b lets you get every version around so you can break it with acces to the testing forum.

assuming its a working forum btw since i can remember the hard tough bugreporting in the ultima online and ever quest days

Or in the line of the writing of the warhammer 40K universe they got some awsome series. Ghaunt's ghosts for instance
