Do man hunter animals go away if I wait?

Yes, they only stay manhunting for a certain amount of time.

Yes, first time playing Alpha 12, I sent one of my colonists out to hunt a boar, ignoring a message that popped out shortly after... then (should have taken a picture) 14 boars come charging into my colony base (game paused... hunter is dead) shortly after, my base is completely wiped in minutes by the boars... definitely liking Alpha 12

well, all it takes is having your base protected by some wall and close the doors. manhunter packs don't break doors.

The the best animal event would be a manhunter pack preceded by a doorhunter pack.
I like how this game can result in quotes that would be quite unnerving when said in public, out of context. - Myself

Haha, I want alpha beavers that come to my base and eat everything made out of wood, furniture, walls, art etc... that would be awesome ;D

Thats not manhunters. Manhunters are dogs/wolfs.
The boars attack because of an Psychic event.

I got attacked by 35 boars once...

not necessarily

now when they get upset because you shot them other like animals nearby get upset and attack too.

I was taming boars when one got upset and the other 7 or so boars nearby got upset. Two of them were already tame boars. I had more trouble getting away from them, since, the colonists wouldn't shoot the tame boars without manually being told to.

they also came in the door to attack, but I'm not sure if they actually used the door or if they followed the colonist in because they were considered tame. I wasn't paying that much attention after I told the colonist to go inside because they never followed inside before.

Yeah, wargs events are manhunters, but any animal can be a 'manhunter', which is when they specifically target humans and attack them. Like mad animal, but mad animals attack doors.

No no, he's quite right. The manhunter pack event can spawn boars, as well as dogs/wargs. It doesn't have to be from a psychic event or hunting gone wrong.

Usually I just retreat into my town hall (kitchen/dining room area) and wait for them to leave. I decided to fight it out this time, and finally got done taking out a wave of 58 boars. 3 colonists went down, and there were a whole host of minor injuries, but no deaths and no lost limbs. Plus, lots of food.

I have even seen a manhunter boomalope, fortunately happend while a huge (about 4 times the size of my colony) commando raid was waiting, and the boomalopes targeted the raiders, talk about a firestorm, the commandos lost about a third of their number to fire

Drahkon

I seem to get lots of manhunter packs, seen elephants, boomalopes, wargs, and I think rhinos.

Boomalopes are easy to defend against since they don't like being lit on fire any more than your colonists do. Cleaning up after and dealing with the fire, less so. Don't defend these near your base if it's made of wood, maybe not let them hang out nearby either, visitors might set off a firestorm.

Odd, it seems manhunter packs are not shown in the colony history, but single 'mad animal' events are...
