I have a small issue in that I tend to have no motivation to continuing a previous colony... I usually play for 6-8 hours (usually a year and a half) or until I get crippled to the point that I quit and make a new colony...

Does anyone have any advice for this? Any sort of goals or something that would help me make a colony to stay?

I call it "deal with it".

I got highly annoyed because Raygun, one of my initial colonists, lost an arm and a pelvis to a sniper. But she's alive. I'll send her home with 2500 silver for a new pelvis.

Play with the Hardcore mod..

It slows progression down quite abit so it's actually an achievement to get power then tech etc.

Most of all.. Learn to take the crippling and nonsensical deaths of main characters as a challenge and try to keep going.
