hello,

i'm trying to figure out what is the best time to have a colonist with the night owl trait work.
sure night time but when is it night time and when is it day time? xD
just switching around would make it a no-go for me cuz the people would work more during day time (16hours) while the night time crew only works for 7 hours, so that would seem a bit unfair to me and i want to balance that a bit.  :P

I have found that the night owl starts to complain at 10:00 about being in the daylight. So I set them for bed at 0900, and they wake at 1700, with no complaints about being in daylight. It is not an instant thing, but happens after about 2 hours that they start complaining about the daylight.

Sleep: 10-17 is my standard setting for night owls. However, since colonists rarely keep strict bedtimes, you're going to be seeing the debuff once in a while, especially when they get up and when they head for bed. If the night owl has a job that takes him far away from base often (like mining or hauling), you might want to tweak his schedule to reflect the extra travel time.

With that said, the positive modifier for night owl is massive, and it's easy to keep up. I think it might need to be toned down a little, because having a night owl is usually an advantage more than an issue (it's nice to have a colonist who's always fed, rested and ready to fight during the night).

Not kidding, this is my 7th time coming here looking for the exact numbers...
...
I've added the Night Owl trait to Rimworld Wiki
(with the more-or-less exact time the buff/debuff applies/wears off)
for idiots like me...  :-[
If you spot an error, edit it please! Thanks!
