I'd like to say, today been I've shocked on how veterans are treated. My grandpa has always been a titan in my eyes powerful, unmovable, unbreakable. But now as I sit there with him watching the news (Depressive as always) , he turns to me and says  "what has happened to this beautiful nation that I fought for, where is the love that was there. How can a nation be strong if they forget their heroes that held the torch of freedom, took a bullet, lost a limb, or their lives so that we can sleep safe." he grabs my hand, the once powerful, untouchable man I knew a my is now simple old man with barely any strength in his hold. He tells me " Never forget the men ( and women) who stand and stood for you, now and before. The most horrible thing that can happen to men like me, is to be forgotten". He smiles like he always does and there is tap on glass door ( I mean small tap, verysmall tap), and he stands up an says "I got squirrels to feed" and goes outside. Tell your stories of a veteran.
This is Rimworld people, Where cannibals ware pink helmets and nudest decide to go outside when its -59F, And where shit happens. Its anything but fare or balanced, Lady Luck rolls a 1000-sided dice and 80% of that dice says"Death"on it. Your job is keeping your people alive in bad rolls. Good Luck.

A Friend

My gramps was a guerrilla fighter during WWII.

Don't remember much of the heroics he did. But my mom told me of something that caused him to have PTSD though.
He got captured once, and was part of a death march where people got stabbed by bayonets and shot for shits and giggles. He escaped when no one was looking but got spotted by an unarmed soldier who was having a bathroom break. The soldier desperately begged for his life but gramps was at great risk of getting caught, so he executed him with a rock.

Recalling the event makes him cry. And he sometimes screams at night. Though he passed away when I was 3, so I never got to properly meet him and know everything. War sure is horrifying.
"For you, the day Randy graced your colony with a game-ending raid was the most memorable part of your game. But for Cassandra, it was Tuesday"

This is different, since my country never got in a real war, we don't see many veterans around. I hope that this histories keep on being told on this topic, since I like to hear other people experiences.
