After seeing this posted on twitter by Tynan: https://twitter.com/TynanSylvester/status/433324948992442368 I noticed the lack of being able to choose whose corpses we can cook.

In pretty much every crashville, my colonists, when they die, get given proper burials, whilst raiders/prisoners get thrown in a furnace room. I'd like to see the same thing where I can choose to cook anybody other than my own colonists.

I agree we should be able to choose what creatures (which corpse) to eat
So dwarf fortress in space eh?
I love it.
I love it so much.
Please keep it that way.

Indeed, poor little Tynan deserves to be given a proper burial, not devoured by some hungry cannibals.

Choosing the corpses to eat could be done via forbidding and un-forbidding. From what I can tell, bodies in graves don't get uncovered without the grave itself being deconstructed, so you would have to deliberately dig up a buried colonist if you got curious needed to eat one really badly. Human meat meals will probably be off by default, so you'll almost certainly never eat a dead colonist by mistake.

That wasn't the point, though - they want to eat human meat, but they want to be able to configure it so that only raiders get butchered, while colonists get buried instead. If how the system works is that you just put in an order for 'butcher humans' or whatever, you won't be able to control burials vs butchers without an enormous amount more micromanagement than should be needed.

sure I want that option in game too, but with really long standing moral penalty and after fear system is changed a bit. Cannibalism is viable way to survive in extreme situations (like after crash landing in wilderness), but nothing too lighty used. It is not really good advertise for game either if easiest way in it is to eat your human enemies.

cannibalism will have a obvious penalty (but it will vary, and some colonist may be unaffected if they have certain traits, or are scared enough), and advertising a game as a game where you can do anything with your colony is great.

This game obviosuly isnt for young children, cannibalism is a thing.

Just like blood and guts are a thing.

And making clothes out of human skins/bones

You can do it, but you don't have to.

Also, we can torture people into joining our colony already (fear generates loyalty if it is highest)
