If a colonist loses a limb, you have to wait what can be years for a replacement. I suggest another work-around:

The Crypto-Heal Casket
A late-game solution to missing limbs. A colonist enters the casket, and you can see an overview of their conditions in a new tab in the 'Health' panel. From here, you can see every fixable problem the colonist has. For things like Cut Scars, the colonist would need (X) Glitterworld Medicine and (X) days in the casket. Once this time has been completed, the colonist can leave the casket and the problem will have gone.

For things such as missing legs or arms, it will obviously take more time and resources.

Once the colonist is inside, a qualified doctor will need to administer the medicine and start the machine's process. The better the doctor, the less chance of... problems...

PROBLEMS!

Failed Regeneration: (Lower Skilled Doctor = Higher Chance of Failure) This will become apparent at the end of the regeneration time period. This will still use the medicine and time, but it may not work.

Breakdown: (Poorer Quality Casket =  Higher Chance of Breakdown) The casket can break down while in use, meaning it needs to be fixed with components. While the casket is broken, the colonist cannot leave and the process is paused.

Wrong Code!: (Poorer Quality Casket + Poor Quality Doctor = Higher Chance of Wrong Code) This is an interesting one :P The colonist may leave the casket to find that the doctor didn't do a great job of writing the code, and thus xe has ended up with a mix-up. This can be:
Attached Leg to Missing Arm
Attached Arm to Missing Leg
If this happens, the unwanted limb needs to be amputated and then regenerated.

What do you think??

Only in RimWorld is the phrase "31 Heavily-Armed Siegers are currently bombing your base" preferable to "50 manhunting squirrels are attacking your colony"

This sounds like an interesting idea as long as it's included among those rare and random off-world purchases like the mega tv and telescope. It can't be something freely built, and it has to be expensive. The implications are too strong for such an item and to make it freely available by grind instead of chance would make it too easy to rely on
