Comical error in relationship roll

At least I assume this relationship was rolled... A guy came to my village looking for refuge from pirates and rolled a relationship with one of my original colonists. The game reckons Kiko, the new guy, is the father of Becker.

Kiko is 32 and Becker is 57.

As I haven't played long I don't know if this is a general bug with parent/child relationship readings or not, but I thought I'd report it. Kiko got married, by the way, and his wife reads as Becker's stepmother despite being 22 to his 57. At first I thought it was just how the game reported it (in other words, reporting what relation your selected colonist is to X, rather than what relation X is to your selected colonist), but further play confirms that's not the case.

I would need some screenshots to tell, but this may be as intended. How long have each of them spent in cryptosleep? I've had a 20-something colonist born over 3000 years ago who was the mother of a senile, 80-something year old raider who was only born about 500 years ago. The logic follows when you have stasis technology.

There aren't any plausibility checks with ages. You can also see that during character creation. Didn't think of cryo sleep though (I assume relativistic time dilation isn't an issue). That's a nice explanation

See Futurama or Fallout 4 for examples of this in other media.
