I write this for all who arrive as this soon sure to be ruin of Hell's Embargo.

I can't tell you how this all came together other than how my friends happened to arrive.
Linda had mentioned a couple times about how she escaped the Infestation aboard the space station Defiance. About how she was the only one to get to an escape pod amidst all the fighting. She was always a happy lady. Never once gave into the overwhelming helplessness we were surrounded with. Always attempted to help us through our lapses in judgment, especially when it came to Paine.

Paine, the only other friend I had on this planet. He was always quite when I was around, can't say I ever really gave him a chance to speak either. I guess he must have been quite interesting because Linda had seemed to take a liking to him, just shortly after I joined the group of survivors Paine and Linda became an Item, and shortly after that they became engaged. Guess one of them had a premonition of what was to happen.

I believe the attack happened on the 4th of winter two seasons since Linda first crashed here. Everything was going as usual, Linda set out to mine further in the mountain, only to be bested by various patches of marsh and springs of water. We had all congregated inside the common room to sit and talk, when Linda first heard shouts. She being the ever courageous leader she was dashed outside and to a cove to ensure we wouldn't be routed, when we arrived where the fight had started when had already been shot several times. I had ran to some cover behind her taking a couple of shots as well, when the grenadier of the enemy force lobbed a grenade next to her. Before she could react it had exploded, Linda being next to the grenade died instantly her body still lays in the mangled position the grenade had thrown her in.

Paine, having seen this immediately rushed the bastard, before he took him out he had lobbed another grenade this time at me, thankfully the grenade never made it close to me. However at the exact time the grenade went off both a Arctic Wolf and it's prey another of the attack force just so happened to be running past the resting place of it. Both of them were mangled by the blast.

After Paine had taken out the grenadier, still enraged by the death of his Fiancee, rushed the sniper, intent on at least taking a prisoner. Just as he got within striking distance however, the sniper shot, incapacitating Paine. This was the final straw for the raiders as they decided to grab Paine and try to bolt, thankfully the sniper who was not only severely encumbered but limping from an injury sustained in battle saw that I was gaining to muc ground on him, so rather than fight he dropped Paine and fled.

From there it's rather blurry as I came down from my Adrenaline high and reality came crashing down on me. Linda was dead and Paine looked like he was never going to walk on that leg again. I guess I had dragged him to his bed. I stayed there a little while doing what I could to fix him, however sometime after I had started working to save him, he just told me to end it for him. That he didn't want to live when Linda was dead, nor did he want to spend seasons if not years before we could get a prosthetic for him.

Even though we only had a short time together, Linda, Paine, and I had become family. I only hope they can forgive me for my lapse in judgement and are waiting for me on the other side.

I, I severely regret listening to him. But even as I mourn over their losses, I quickly write this for whomever stumbles upon this place. I can't I don't have the strength to bury them. Better to waste away in the air then to be preserved in the ground.
