can someone explain how it work?

I'm not sure it does feel somewhat random. It seems the higher the haul skill is trained the more often they will haul and certain animals seem to haul more often. Huskies seem to me to haul more often than labs or boars for instance.

I do know that after getting 6 huskies bred and trained for hauling I don't need to haul anything too often anymore.

Odds are, if they're not hauling they're restricted to an area there's nothing to haul.

I couldn't guarantee it, but I've never seen animals hauling before their skill was maxed out (8/8).

Most of my animal already max haul. You can see it by yellow dot

But after this video they complete haul all of steel. But still wander why they not  pick all of it immediately

As far as I've been able to tell, you need:
- the animal to have maxed haul (8/8).
- the animal to be rested.
- the animal to be fed.
- the animal to be willing (most important point).
- both the starting zone and the ending zone must be in the allowed zones.
- the object in the starting zone must not be taken by anything else.

Basically if an animal hauls 2 times a day, maybe 3 it's a good day. Mostly they wander around. It seems that wandering around is before hauling in whatever priority list them have.
