Varied raids...

I see someone started this thread a while ago HERE, but that one is more than 120 days old. So, it was either start a new thread or necro an old one. I chose new.

I, too, would like raiders to have a reason other than straight up killing.

A list of some real quick raid ideas off the top of my head:


  • Classic wreck your life like now.

  • Steal food, raw or otherwise.

  • Steal weapons and/or ammo.

  • Steal metals, possibly by breaking things and running off with the metal or straight up jacking your lights and tables.

  • Kidnap people, random or specific (bounty hunters?).

  • Free people you have imprisoned.

  • Inflict punitive damage, without complete death/destruction.

  • Muffalo rustling, assuming we get to keep herds in a pen some day.

  • Steal money, aka rob the bank.

When raiders achieve or grab (but have not departed with) what their objective is, they start to pull back.

Basically, anything you would see happen in a western in a frontier town. This way, an overwhelming raider attack does not necessarily mean the murder of everyone in your settlement, though it could still be an enormous setback.

Any other raider goal ideas?

You could of just necro's the old thread since most of those ideas were listed in there already :P

Wasn't sure which was better protocol, necro or new post referencing old. Different forum admins have different prefferences.

I love these ideas. Adds more to raiders and gives more strategy in raider defense. ...Not to mention in really big raids my colony wouldn't go under.  :P
