Hello , this idea came to me after spending many hours playing RimWorld and being annoyed that even after a few in game years and after witnessing many deaths of both friends and enemies my "survivors" still got upset after attackers who tried to kill them died. My suggestion is to add some sort of a system by which "survivors" become less prone to breakdowns the longer they survive and care less about petit things. :)

It makes sense for seeing death and suffering. But people could start caring more about comfort and luxuries as times goes on and the colony gets more established. As it is the game actually provides a mood bonus at the beginning to make it easier. It would be better if things like "slept on the ground" only kick in after a few days, or that it takes a bit before people complain about shared bedrooms.

Yes that sounds reasonable, I was thinking of maybe some traits which could be developed depending on what kind of environment the people are in, eg. if they sleep in high quality beds and constantly eat high quality meals they will be more affected if their conditions change and vice versa. But definitely in my opinion the killing and deaths scenario is an issue (once again, in my opinion). :)

It would also be interesting if survivors of particularly violent/deadly battles could develop PTSD to have the opposite effect

"For you, the day Randy graced your colony with a game-ending raid was the most memorable part of your game. But for Cassandra, it was Tuesday"

makes sense, my colony leader at my 150H colony kill about 50 raiders and see died 10+ colonist. he also have bionic eye, bionic arm and 2 bionic legs (barely human). he is a freaking bionic mass mudered vietnam veterant. i imagine things dont affect this pawn the same way a new colonist

@grinch precisely a great example but even not taking the bionic factor into this let alone just the time spent surviving and killing should change the way a pawn feels about killing and witnessing murder 8)

Like developing the psychopath trait in a similar way as the cannibal trait? Something like that makes sense.
