Could add new crops since after a time the crops become repetitive, for example they could add watermelons, pumpkins, fruit trees such as apple trees, orange trees, palm trees with coconuts, etc.

Get the Vegtable Garden mod everything you mentioned plus another 30+ crops are in there. Great for having a diversity of food and plants of all kinds.

Veg Garden also introduces some deeper crafting chains for cooking. Pretty damn good mod!
