I didn't even know this was a thing until a few minutes ago. My doctor got nine-tenths of his brain blown onto the pet Warg after lighting the invading raiders on fire, and now he is a deaf mute with the hands of a god.

Has this always been a thing or is it fairly recent?

KingKnee

My best doctor got this after I tried to install a painstopper IIRC.

It's relatively recent, maybe alpha 14 or 13. It's just really hard to encounter because players avoid brain damage more than the plague. I've become much better at Rimworld and it's been more than several colonies since I one of my people had brain damage.

Rule no. 1 for avoiding brain damage:
- aim to have Kevlar Helmets for everyone. With the helmet, they can disfigure your face, cut an eye or jaw but not kill you with headshot unless it's high caliber rifle.

Rule no. 2:
- all melee fighters shall have personal shields.

Just how much of a bonus does this savant grant ? Enough to offset the penalty of Consciousness ?

Goldenpotatoes

Has anyone checked to see if luciferium undoes the trauma savant when it heals the brain damage? I wouldn't be surprised if that was overlooked and it leaves the trauma savant effect.

After awhile his consciousness returned back to 100%. There is no true offset, aside from deaf-muteness.
