So if I wanna stay in A16 for a while until mods are updated and stuff...
How?

I know how to set the beta. I read to keep your mods, just move them into the mods folder.
Only, when I do that, 1. I get a black screen, or if I do it while the game is running and hit mods, 2. It never loads then crashes when I click again.

Anyone know why? Or how to properly move over steam workshop mods to the mods folder so they won't autoupdate on me?

%steamfolder%/SteamApps/workshop/content/294100/
Copy all the folders (they will be named numerically, like 14914214) and move them elsewhere. After that, unsubscribe from all your workshop mod subscriptions. Goto Rimworld/Mods/, paste there folders you've moved previously and you're done.

As nethrez1m said, *copy* the mod folders from the Steam workshop folder (steamapps/workshop/content/294100) to your regular mods folder (steamapps/common/RimWorld/Mods). Do *not* just move them, as if you remove subscribed mods' folders from the workshop folder, well, that's what causes the game to go to "black screen."

However, contrary to what nethrez1m posted, it isn't necessary to unsubscribe from the mods after you've done that. All you need to do is go to the mods list in the game and make sure your local copies are active and the Steam copies aren't. That way, you won't lose track of the mods you like on Steam, and Steam will keep them updated for you, but those updates won't affect your game.

@Nethrez1m Okay, on my wife's compy I may have moved them. But on mine, I know I didn't. I copied. I'm going to try again and see if it works this time.

I did as you said, and when I booted, no black screen BUT, when I clicked mods, the button depresses, and nothing happens. I waited ten minutes or so, then clicked the screen once, and the blue windows circle comes up (loading/waiting) and the screen goes grey. It then gives me the "wait or close" dialogue. I closed it.

I'm going to do it again and leave it while I go to dinner in case the problem is just it's processing all those mods. (They were all throwing a version error...idk why) and if it's still going when I get back, we have a problem. I have a lot of mods (200ish?) so it may just be taking a while to process, but 10 minutes seemed a bit long.

More later. Thanks for help.

Home from dinner, tried again... yeah no go. It's just sitting there on the main menu still, no mods list.
I go and try to move a few at a time, that works.
I try and move a few at a time more. That works.
Try to drop the rest in, it crashes outright.
What the hell...
Is there something wrong with one of the workshop mods?
