Need a way to direct incoming traders / visitors

Can we please get a way to mark an area specifically for traders that come or other friendly visitors?  I know there was a mod to make a trader spot that was just a square on the ground like the caravan or crafting spot, but the game definitely needs something like this to direct where friendly traders come to.

They either go and hang out at the far far outskirts of some building I made, regardless of if its actually an entrance or not, or they come inside and repeatedly wake up my sleeping colonists by running in and out of their rooms with their animals, or cluster in my kitchen making a huge mess.   There isn't really much rhyme or reason as to why they go where. 

I'd be fine if they defaulted to just SOME specific spot as a preference, even if we don't get a dedicated placeable spot for them.  I.e. anythng marked as a "gathering spot" which seems to make the most sense.  If colonists gather there to party and marry, why aren' traders also going to that community designed space?

Since we only get one 'home zone' to work with and it covers so many different aspects of the game I feel like breaking some things away from it would be really helpful.  We have party spots not, marriage spots, gathering spots on specific items, a trader spot fits right in, or any sort of way to designate where they are going to go.  I don't really see this being a "gamed system" or anything anymore with all the changes that couldn't just be gamed anyways.
