Low frame rate

Recently I've been having problems with horrid frame rate. As in taking several seconds for a single frame. I had a problem where I was trying to run the game with over 100 mods and my game + steam both shut down. I couldn't open either. I deleted and redownloaded both and it seemed to be working fine. But now whenever I run the game it works fine but when I get to the map (choosing a place to settle) the game lags horribly, and later starting a colony the game runs at near 0 fps. Its completely unplayable. I have no mods enabled and all settings are default. I've deleted and redownloaded the game again to no difference. What can I do to fix this?


Ps. The game worked fine before the big shutdown. I added performance mods and the game even ran above average frame rates until I added a few more mods and everything fd up.
